Ok, so we will be cruising with my MIL, FIL, and SIL plus DH, myself and DD age 3. I want to do the Tea with Alice with her, but knowing my family they will probably all want to come too - to see DD experience it. At a minimum, it will be myself, DD, and MIL and SIL. I could see FIL wanting to come too. DH would probably be fine sitting it out.
So is it rude to get tickets for so many adults and only one kid? :confused3

Everyone is entitled to request tickets. They are given out first come first served. If someone decides not to go I would return the ticket to GS so that anyone who is on a waitlist can be notified to attend.

Would one of you be so kind as to point me in the direction of some infomation on Tea with Alice? This sounds like something my niece and my wife, well she'll be my wife by the end of the cruise, would live to do together? Thanks.

There is another thread a little farther down the page with more details.

It is tea (apple juice) with Alice and the Mad Hatter. You obtain tickets from guest services on a first come first served basis. You can request to be wait listed if they are out of tickets by time you get there.

I think I'd just tell the men that the tea is a girl's thing. It really is, and I can't imagine that the men will really want to be there. Actually, I think I'd make it a special mom and daughter thing and let everyone else fend. I'd hate for a little girl to miss out on this.

Michael, thank you for your answer and your service, my new brother-in-law is a Naval officer. :thumbsup2

I can understand any member of the family wanting to witness a child's experiences. Every guest on the ship has a right to participate in the family events. Be sure to go to GS when you board to get the tickets you will need.

It is sea days on the Magic.

I do want to echo the previous request--if anyone gets tickets and decides not to use them, please turn them in to GS, even if it is at the last minute. They do run out of tickets and do maintain a wait list. At the last minute, they'd just give the extra tickets to the guy at the door for walk ups.

On our last cruise I didn't think our "gang" would want to go, so didn't get the tickets early on. I had some very disappointed big girls....and after we were home, found out that a dis board friend has holding 5 tickets that she had decided not to use!

DH went with DD and me on our first cruise because he wanted to watch DD, who was 5 at the time, experience everything. I'd say most of the tables were taken by families, not just moms and girls.

Short answer: yes, I personally think that would be a bit rude.

While it is true that everyone on the ship has the right to go to the family events, I am from the school of thought that the more adults that attend the tea, means fewer kids that get to experience it, and spaces are limited. Like someone else said, I'd hate to see children end up missing out on the event due to a bunch of extra adults taking up the spaces. That's just me though.

We plan on attending, but I will take my 2 dd's by myself and leave hubby to enjoy whatever he likes due to this very reason. We have a camera; he'll get to see it from that perspective. ;)

I don't believe it is rude for anyone on the cruise to go to the tea. Every person on board has paid to enjoy the experiences on the ship. If you and your family all want to experience the tea with your DD, then by all means request the tickets. This would probably be something you would want to coordinate ahead of time so you know exactly which members of your party would want to attend so that you don't get too many tickets.

There will be several cabins on the ship with people like me, 2 adults - no kids, who will not be taking the tickets. I hope you and whoever else in your family you would like get to enjoy this time with your daughter

It is absolutely acceptable for your whole family to get tickets for Tea with Alice. Not very often, but some adults go who are not cruising with kids.

Chocolate chip cookies are also served. They were very good!

I forgot to get tickets when we sailed on Saturday, and when I remembered on Tuesday, they were all gone. Guest services put me on the wait list, but they suggested that we check just after the tea was to begin to see if anyone had not shown up. There were plenty of tables, so my daughter, my mom, and I were able to go.

DD13 had fun, as did we all, but it was geared a little more toward younger girls.

At the end you can get your picture with Alice and the Mad Hatter.

No, I don't think it's rude if more adults than children wish to attend. There are families (such as ours) who have sailed the Magic so many times that we quit attending long ago. (Three seats there.) Families who travel with teens (more seats.) Go enjoy the tea party!:)

I agree with your school of thought...I would hate to hear that my daughter or anyone elses, are unable to attend because a grandparent or cousin twice removed insisted on coming to the event. Maybe on the new ships there will be more space to accomodate everyone. Just my opinion...

We did this on our last Magic cruise. Just DD, myself, and MIL got tickets. FIL stood at the back and took pictures. We didn't even know he was there. He did not take a seat or another child's place, and he got some great pictures.
