Has anyone ever had the tea party and if so would you mind sharing what the costs were? Did you have menu choices? And what did the guests think of it? Thanks!!

I had a tea party!! I think that option is there because of me (if you're talking about an afternoon tea reception). :goodvibes

It was very elegant and pretty and my guests loved how unique it was. I had full control over the menu. We had fruit at the pre-reception, then for tea I served soup and salad, followed by sandwiches, scones with preserves, and fresh strawberries & cream, lemon loaf, and tarts (these were on a three tiered plate), then we had English Trifle and wedding cake. VERY GOOD! I believe the meal was $55 per person, plus cake, and we had mimosas to toast with that were in addition.

I also had white chocolate tea cup favors:

We also had the string quartet, which added a lot of ambiance. I based it on having tea at the Ritz.

Hope that helps a bit, if I can answer any questions please let me know.

I love your tea cup favors! very cute. I didn't know they did tea receptions but yours was so pretty!!

I was actually thinking of the Mad Hatter Tea Party though. Would you know if those would be similar menus and costs?

LOL, I'm not as helpful there, I'm afraid. I think the props are an arm and a leg, though.

THe mad hatter tea party is crazy!!

If you go to www.mouseweddings.com you can see the price. It is very very expensive.

I wanted to have it but its just way to much. I think it was like 9,000.00 something close to that.

I am having tea at the Floridan instead..lol. Much cheaper. I think Figment Fan had a tea here.

Wow - i just saw those prices for the Mad Hatter party! I figured it would be around $5000, but that's just for the decorations!!

Can you reserve space for just the Grand Floridian tea instead? That looks a lot more realistic. And also very nice.

Yes. You can either have your own section which you pay just like a catered party or you can just make reservations for a large group and pay at the end kind of like if you go out and eat. Here is what I found.

Gardenview Tea Room

Gardenview Tea Room is located in a large alcove in the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort. It is open to the public each afternoon for a Victorian-style formal tea, complete with tiered silver serving trays and tea cosies.

Private Events

Gardenview Tea Room is available on a "buy out" basis for private events of up to 50 people. For a private event there is a minimum expenditure requirement of $500, plus 6.5% tax and 18% gratuity. Private events are available ONLY on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Anyone may book a private event.

Please note that as of 8/23/06, they are already booked up through January 2007! You must plan private events very far in advance.

When doing a private event, you will order from a preselected menu. (Please note that the menu items and prices do change from time to time. The menu provided here is simply an example to give you a general idea of the selections and pricing.)

Contact for booking private events: (407) 824-2351 - Leave a message with the date you want, number of guests and phone number. A credit card is required to hold your reservation and you will have to sign a contract.

Non-Private Events

You can also book large parties during Gardenview Tea Room's regular hours. A preselected menu is required for parties of 15 or more. (Please note that the menu items and prices do change from time to time. The menu provided here is simply an example to give you a general idea of the selections and pricing.)

Large parties are limited to 25 guests per party during regular hours. Large parties are booked in the first seating (2:00 pm) or in the last seating (4:40 pm or later).

For large groups a credit card is required to hold the reservation. Nothing will be charged unless you do not show. If you do not show and you have preselected a menu, the price of the menu will be billed to your credit card. If you need to cancel it must be done with 48 hours of the reservation time. Any changes to the party size must be communicated within 5 days of reservation date. They will do their best to accommodate additions to your party depending on availability.

Large parties are asked not to split the check, but rather to pay for the group in one transaction.

Contact for booking non-private events with 15-25 guests: (407) 824-2351 - Leave a message with the date you want, number of guests and phone number. A credit card is required to hold your reservation.

Contact for booking non-private events with 14 or fewer guests: (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463)

General Policies

Gift opening, speeches and games/trivia are not allowed in the restaurant. They will, however, assist with moving gifts to the main lobby area for your enjoyment.

They can arrange for special celebration cakes.

Table decorations can be brought in, or arranged through Disney World Florist at (407) 827-3505.
