My dd would like to have a tea party. this would not be a birthday party or anything like that. On her 7th birthday I took her to the my disney girl perfectly princess party. She absolutely loved it and I think she has something of that formal dress up type thing in mind. However she is now well past her 8th birthday and some of the kids delight in taunting and teasing her about the princess/fairy love she has. I'm trying to decide the right way to go about this. She is so into fairies that I thought she would like to have it fairy themed and dress up. But I dont think the other girls would like this idea much. I could suggest she invite just the 2 or three girls who still believe I guess. Anyway what do you think...is 8 too old for this and do people do this kind of thing with no reason except that she wants to? Any ideas or thoughts for me?

How about a Victorian Tea? The girls come dressed for a ball and you have finger sandwiches, petit fours etc. Very formal in the dining room, china etc. Make arrangements of fresh flowers all over (you can get them at the grocery store). Leave a posy at each place setting for the girls to take home. Play some old parlor games, teach them how to waltz and curtsy. Get white gloves for all the girls to wear. If you really want to go all out, rent a pony for the girls to ride like the ladies did back in the day! My aunt did type of party for my cousin. It was adorable!

If girls/women were more kind and loving to one another, the world would be such a better place! Just my opinion, I would do the fairy tea (how cute!) and invite the friends who would appreciate it. When your daughter looks back on her birthdays, she will remember it as a time when you put the extra effort in to make her feel special by incorporating her interests. My DD5 believes, and I have friends who children at 8 still believe in Santa, fairies, etc. so she is not alone. With all the ugly things in the world, I would rather indulge my child in the sweet things and thoughts that life has to offer!
Have fun with whatever you do!

How fun! You could have fairycakes with dewdrop tea!
