I was thinking of taking a travel kettle with me and some tea bags and sugar.

Is this a good idea?:confused3

Also what do people usually do about milk. Do i need to take powdered milk too?

PS do you get a decent cup of tea or coffee with breakfast in the hotels as I can't function without a decent cuppa with my brekkie!!!

There is tea and coffee at breakfast and we usually pocket a couple of teabags for the evening. There is sugar and milk available too.
The first time we stayed at the cheyenne there was a welcome basket in our room with tea, coffee and paper cups, but the second time there wasn't, but there was a kettle, so we bought a mug.
There wasn't a kettle in our room in sequoia though. probably we could have had one if we'd paid a deposit.

WE always take a travel kettle and tea and coffee. You can buy milk from the station or garage or sometimes the hotel shops. Last summer we kept it cool in an ice bucket full of ice. Previous to that we have taken a flask and put it when cold into the flask which has kept it fresh for 24 hrs

We didn't have a kettle in our room, but you can get one if you leave a deposit. But even then, they do have limited numbers, so it is a gamble. We took our own kettle, cups, coffee & whitener. ( Don't forget the spoon!!)

Take into account aswell that the milk in DLRP hotels is not the same as our milk. It is more like UHT milk.

If you don't mind the milk being this, then the train station sells it. When we were there, you bought it in a pack of 4 plastic bottles. So you could keep the others in your room and the open one, put cold water in the basin in the bathroom, and sit it in there to keep cool.

i know its doesnt taste as great as a brewed in a pot cup, but poundland sell packs of the vending machine type cups (10 cups for £1), with the teabag/millk already in them. they tend to have all the varietys, so hot chocolate, coffee etc. or OH likes something called 3in1, its coffee powder, dried milk, and 1 sugar, already mixed in a sachet that you just put in a cup and add hot water to.

we also take these into the park with us, and a flask of hot water, to save on buying

I have always found the tea & coffee at breakfast to be nice, although I do tend to drink the OJ & Hot chocolate more.
