Okay, I know you can get pizza to go, but I have heard others say that they got enough food to feed 4 for cheap!! I need the details!!! Thanks:surfweb:

I have read plenty of others on this board that didn't like Trails End, but for our trip in April it was wonderful. We did have their pizza one night of our stay and now I can't remember how much it was but it was really big and fed all 4 of us, it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had but it was ok, we all ate it without complaints, it kind of like homemade style.
Trails End was very affordable for us...their breakfast was 12.00 something, and takeout you can put anything in the carry out box you want, I'll give you an example ...we had mickey waffles with syrip( we used our cup for this ), fruit, danish, bacon, sauage, eggs, potatoes, grits gravy and biscuts this was just about every morning. The first day when checking out we opened the box so the checkout lady could see and she laughed and said " if you get it in the box it's yours", well this was able to fed all of us very cheaply and the food was great. I never did try lunch but I loved the food. 12.00 to feed a family of 4 is the best deal you can get on WDW property !

I KNOW THT WE ALWAYS GET THE CHICKEN DINNER TO GO. IT HAS 10 PIECES OF CHICKEN, 4 BISCUITS, SLAW, AND LOTS OF FRENCH FRIES. ALL FOR 19.99 PLUS TAX. IT IS THE BEST CHICKEN AND WE GET IT A COUPLE OF TIMES DURING OUR STAY.

We did dinner to go a couple of times on our last trip (3 weeks ago). For the price of one meal you get a large divided container, a smaller salad container, a container for hot soup or chili, and a drink cup. We pack it full and it feeds several. Just go in the exit door and tell the CM at the counter that you want the buffet to go. There is a to go menu and other options are available, too. We saw several others doing what we were doing--buffet and chicken and pizzas.

Just thought I would update my own question!! We went and got 2 buffets to go for breakfast. I was able to use my disney dining experience card and got 20% discount. We got 2 stryofoam containers, 2 plastic containers, 2 cups (for gravy) and 2 drinks, I also asked for a little container for syrup and was given 3 little containers for syrup. We filled up our containers and we fed 5 adults and a 6.5 year old, 3 y.o. and a 1 y.o. We had so much food!! All of that for $20.56!! We will be doing that again!!! And I must add that 2 of the guys are big eaters and they were stuffed!!!

I understand the excitement of eating at TE, but why are you shouting?

Did I read somewhere that they are doing away with the buffet to go? Seems like it was right after the Ironman. Can someone confirm?

Geeze i hope not! we are planning on TE to go a few times during our August trip.

We were just there memorial day weekend and it was still available. Which I believe was after the Ironman.

I found the thread by kitamom that stated the chef wanted to change it...so I imagine it's not true yet. Maybe nothing will come of it. :goodvibes

Here's her quote:
When we were at the Fort I went to trails end and got one buffet meal to go for breakfast. Hubby and I ate two mornings on it. That made for a very cheap breakfast for two days ( 4 meals for $12.77). The lady at trails end said that the chef is wanting to change that and have only menu items at the carry out area.

I'm thinking he was having a 'made one too many cheesy tater' meltdowns, you know kind of a 'if you don't settle down now, I'm going to turn this car around' thing that he didn't mean. Dear Disney, please give the TE chef a helper during Iron Man next year.

Has anyone used ddp credits for to go buffet here? We have free ddp in sept and this looks like it could be a good use of credits for breakfast.
Thanks Ceri x

Personally, I think the breakfast at TE is so cheap that it would be a waste of TS credits. Pay out of pocket for TE, then save your TS credits for a nice dinner someplace! :)

I have a question for those who have done take out from TE. Since you can't drive your car there, do you take your food back on the bus or eat out front on a picnic table?

One of our traditions has been to take out the chicken dinner and eat at one of the tables at the marina.

We drove up in the golf cart. They do give you a bag so if you are really talented you can ride your bike back too!! We normally don't use the buses much when we are there:confused3
