I really wanted to try Tchoup chop, but was a little nervous, as I have read some bad reveiws. Well I'm so glad I decided to go for it. We had a reservation and dined on 6/14 and I had noted in ressie that it was dd 12th birthday. We were seated promptly at 8:00. As noted in ressie the server brought us a little raspberry salmon on cheese crouton to celebrate dd special day. It was very tasty, and nice little touch that made my dd fell special. They brought the shrimp chips with the peanut dipping sauce, the sauce was very good, chips were okay. Dh and I got had a cocktail, he had the martini of the day that the server reccemended and I had the Rartogan which was like a banana pina colada and the best drink I ever had.
Both dh and I had the chef soup of the day which was lobster bisque, which had a very nice flavor, but is was pureed and put through a sieve so not really a trace of lobster. I perfer to have a few lobster chunks in my bisque. Dh ordered the the hawaiian plate, the ribs were good,the chicken and hash were delicious and the greens were sauteed with shallots and were a little sweet. Dh ate evey bit on his plate and this is man who the only veg he eats is salad. I ordered the bbq shrimp app. as my entree and was a little disappointed, the rice was the most perfected cooked rice, but the shrimp flavor was of mostly salt, it lacked depth. I cook with alot of salt and seasoning, but it was even to salty for me. Dd had the child filet and she said it was the beat meal she ever had, dh said it was the best filet he ever tasted. We all just ate at Jiko at AKL 4 days ago and had the filet, which many peaple rave about and it could'nt compare to Tchoup chop. My 2 ds shared the chicken fingers. On to dessrt, kid's all ordered the homemade ice cream which was very yummy, and they put dd on a special b day plate and sever sang. It was quite funny as the matred,and the host came over with the sever, but just stood there and made her sing by herself. Dh had a latte which was very nice. I ordered the banana cream pie and it was the most heavenly thing I have ever eaten, I was truly in love.
The service was impeckable. The food was perfectly timed,as soon as we finished the next course came. They even do a fresh drinking water change for desert. The restaurant is quite beautiful,and the meal was expensive as I only ordered a app. and ds' split an entree, but worth every penny. I was very excited to dine here and it the quality and service were definitely made TChoup chop, top notch.
