Tcd???

I rang them last year to ask about 21 nights they said they could but would have to use another airline not their own. The price the quoted was a lot more than booking everything seperately myself.
Anyone wanting cheap flights dont forget to check out Flyglobespan from Glasgow. This Aug peak time I could have booked Economy for £400, Premium for £500 and Business for £750 return. prices were about half (or more) what Virgin were offering at the time.

Will they price match TCD though, since you fly to Sanford and not MCO ?:confused3

I was just giving this info in response to tracy who said Opodo were £200/ticket cheaper, Although I have heard they price match any Florida flight but not something I have ever tried. Maybe someone else has tried and can reply.

If you get a ticket in TCD's sunshine first cabin you get a PEA (Personal Entertainment Unit) Which has various Movies and TV Shows. The only problem is the batteries need switching about halfway through the flight and the selection of things to watch on the return journey looked suspiciously similar to that of the outbound flight.popcorn::

We flew with TCD twice last year- our first times- once in Economy and once in Sunshine First. Both times were really great- we found the service better than Virgin, the price (a LOT) cheaper and LOVED Sanford over OIA- we breezed through in under half an hour both times! We're flying with them again this year and have no hesitation in recommending them. I know some people have had problems with them, but we've had nothing but good times!

i did the same checking prices and couldnt believe the price difference:)

do you think Virgin will price match???
I doubt it very much!

We've flown with them once & choose them because at the time they were the best price I could get for direct flights in August.

We had NO problems & would fly with them again

Weve just come back on the 19th Jan and flew with TCD for the first time, I have to say that everything was fantasic apart from the flights, the flight out was delayed 3hrs we were told we were flying on a jumbo, we ended up on a very tried 767, the seats were very tight and uncomfortable my seat controller didnt work so the wife and i had to share headphones, the screen was fuzzy and dark, if you want a drink (as they are supposed to be free) make sure you are persistant, we were in cattle class and were told that they havn't got the space to carry a lot of drink so its first come first serve. due to the flights we have decided that we will fly with someone else the saving for us (a couple) with just not worth being that uncomfortable for 9hr 30 one way and 7hrs 40 the other.

We going with TCD when we go in a couple of weeks.

That last post was a bit worrying but at least the good reports in this thread seem to vastly outnumer the bad!

like I said we had problems with the villa with them last time, but we were compensated, and moved to a lovely villa,

we are using them for a wedding, granted going sunshine first

my brother swears by them especially for budgeting and travelling with a larger family.

One of the main problems with TCD is that they don't have the back up planes (or crewe) when things 'go wrong'. In high season - when we have to go - they seem to have a quite a few delays.
As Ralphy said, they often switch planes from the 747 to the 767, and even if you have upgraded to Sunshine First - you get squashed in with everyone else - which beggers the question - is it worth the risk, upgrading with them in the first place.
As I said before, we tried them for the first time last year, and unfortunately, our experience with them was very poor.
I appreciate many people travel year after year with them with no problems - we must have been unlucky - but I will not risk flying with them again.

Really, so if you have paid for sunshine first and they change planes you get stuck in the same size seat?! Thats rubbish!

Hi

I had heard great things about them and that their prices cannot be beaten. I got a price last year to go this July, 3 weeks at POR. Virgin (which we booked) £4050.00. I had previously spoken with TCD and they said no mater what they would beat any price, so I called them and told them the breakdown and price with Virgin, the closest they could get was 5049.00 a grand more! when I told them about their "we can beat any price" remark, they said that they just could not do it!

Sorry, 3 kids, 2 adults on site at POR in July 07 for 4000.00 I think that is a pretty good price.

Cheers

Steve

Modern planes? Obviously not from Manchester, as the plane we flew on still had the Wright Brothers livery. No IFE on flight both ways. Cabin stunk, a thoroughly off putting experience.
Found them to be very rude, unhelpful, and their idea of customer service was to call me and my partner liars when we'd been directed to the wrong check-in area and terminal.
We've beaten their prices with First Choice, even after TCD knocked off their booking fee off for their incompetance on the last trip.
I think you can tell I'm not a fan.

I am sure all planes flying into the usa have to meet certain standards, I think I read it somewhere.

We fly from manchester, and ours were ok, nothing outstanding, but hey its just a bus with wings, its gets me from a to b so its cool

Pretty much what the TCD rep quoted..minimum standard did not include IFE, and cabin odour wasn't covered...despite it being the same plane that we went out on.
I would say that the air cond dumping its condensate on you during the flight isn't particularly nice, nor the smell of the toilets and various other odours through the cabin.
For the kind of money that we paid with TCD, we can get far better quality with First Choice, so thats who we'll use.The OP asked for comments on TCD, and pretty much, my opinion is a low frills airline with little or no customer service.

We flew with tcd last feb after using virgin for the first four trips. We found tcd far better than virgin.more legroom, polite and attentive cabin crew, modern clean aircraft even the food was better we have booked again with them and go in 3 weeks.

I am surprised at the legroom comment. Both are stated to be 32in legroom

The only time we flew with TCD we got the Bulkhead row, I was amazed how much legroom we had, DS could actually lay on the floor and we still had enough legroom. We booked it last minute and the told us tehy were bad seats because we could not see the tv screen, Prefer legroom over a tv anyday, I sleep most flights anyway.

(Try this agin, first time IE7 crashed on me!!!!!)

Re the cheapness of TCD, I have been looking at fly drive prices for some friends of ours who are coming out with us beginning of December this year (three adults, one child)

On first look, TCD come out extreamly well against others like Virgin Holidays, with prices for fly drive being £1,550 against £2,204.80

However when you look at the TCD price agsint Virgin Atlantic plus seperate car hire (Hertz Full size four door 14 days) this price comes out at £1,756.27 (£1,530.60 and £225.67) so the total difference is £206.27 roughly £52 per person extra for a scheduled airline with extra planes, flying into MCO, seatback TV's, Flying Club miles, and a full size car (and coming into the Clubhouse with us) (oh and possibly one of Jaggers daughters playing up on the flight   )

Incedentally BA's flight only price was an amazing £2,044!

Also, another option worth considering if you live near the Midlands was the Continental price for BHX-NWR-MCO of £1,610 (£1,835.67 including car hire) with no hotel at Gatwick nor the long drive home with jet lag.

all in all it does show that it pays to shop around and not rely on packaged prices or Travel agents (Flame suit on, waiting for the TA's on the board to burn me up   )

I've flown many different carriers and thought TCD rated at least midway! The VS flight we'd had the year before was rated lower because of the huge delays with lack of info and service from staff. However I'd rate TCD premium well above standard charted fare such as first choice, Thomson brittania etc. I flew these carriers though before they'd had the recent overhaul of planes that now sees Thomsons and First Choice's standard economy class rate higher than TCD, VS and BA economy.

(none compare with middle east or far east carriers though!)

I guess at the end of the day ANY flight that suffers from IFE breakdown/snotty staff/massive delays makes it a terrible flight! as long as you feel you got value for money, whether travelling first or economy, THAT'S the important thing
