Got my tickets today!! Was a little bit bored so I've been reading the (thick) booklet that comes with them. Towards the back of the book it says.... 'for flights departing 1900 onwards checkin at 1500! Our return flight leaves at 2100 - surely we don't have to check in 6 hours before - that's just plain daft.

Anybody able to clarify this - the return towncar has been booked to leave our hotel in WDW at about 6.30pm - perhaps this is a bit late but I can easily change the time (have to ring them back to confirm a couple of days before we go, anyway) - what time should we book it for, do you think?

you can now "check in" at the tcd office at lbv outlets in the morning.Apparently they will take your luggage to the airport for you and will give you your boarding card there and then.Dad did it last month, got rid of the bags early, had a great day in the parks then mooched up to the airport hour and half before flight!sounds great to me :cool1:

Thanks for the idea but unfortunately not practical as we haven't booked a car this time - hence the towncar (Tiffany's).

i think i would ring tcd then and confirm with them what time you should check in by.Last year we followed the instructions in the guide book you have.We were hanging around the airport for hours bored silly. If you have to go early i would book the guest house, sanford airport is pretty boring.

Rang TCD today - they advised me to check in at 6pm - 3 hours before as normal. I booked the Guest House at Sanford though just in case.

we booked guest house too. There really isn't much to do at sanford airport,i am hoping there will be some comfy chairs and a good film in the gh to help me chill out before the flight!
Hope you have a great time :teeth:

we are flying for the first time with TCD - what is the guest house - how do I book it and what is the cost. Thank You

the guest house is a seperate part of departures where they have comfier seats, playstations for the kids to play on,food and soft drinks (some of which is free). Also a quiet room and a movie room.It cost me £10 per person.I think it is well worth it because when we were delayed last year we were tearing our hair out with no decent food and no comfy chairs to sit in.Ended up lying on the floor for hours :guilty:
If you are going to book it i would do it before you go because they have limited spaces.

Thanks for the info. do you think it would be worth it even if we are planning on checking in our luggage at the LBV and then going to the airport an hour or so befor the flight. Just a thought about the hire car with a fly drive - would I need to inform them that we are planning on doing this so that we don't get charge the extra day with the hire car!!!

i am gonna do the same thing, but i have still booked the guest house just incase the flight is delayed-not a fun airport to be stranded in.For the sake of £10 i feel it's worth it.Also,i thought i would tell the hire company about our plans when i pick up the car.My dad did this in may when tcd were trialing the new check in system. He rang hire car company on the morning of departure and they said there was no problem in bringing back car a bit later. He didn't pay for an extra day so it will be fine.
I am getting excired just thinking about our holiday!! :teeth:

Can you book the guest house if your not flying with TCD? (Thomas Cook Direct?)

We are flying with monarch. What do you advise?

Thanks :flower:

mrsjobba,
i think you can book guest house direct with sanford airport, you could probably do it when you land in sanford.

Or you could ring travel city,i'm sure they wouldn't turn away any bookings :rotfl:
