marcy I totally agree - if you watched the whole footage clip the guy was CLEARY evading & resisting them - laughing as in "catch me if you can." He could have been drunk or high or mentally unstable & ready to whip a weapon out of his pocket. You never know. They did try to catch him for awhile before they tazered him. How about the guy that made himself vomit on a little girl & a cop 2 weeks ago at a Phillies game - people are STRANGE these days!

I bet if it had been a hot chick in a skimpy outfit they would've let her run the bases forward and backwards until she was winded. :teeth:

My nephew is a good friend of the guy. He said after he got home from court/jail/police station the next day the friend called my nephew to say "It doesn't matter what they did to me, it was so worth it & I'd do it again in a heartbeat." Um, ok, then I hope they tazer you HARDER next time! Idiot!

So he obviously didn't learn his lesson from the tazer or arrest or anything. My nephew said he has community service & a small fine to pay. And he thinks he's the coolest thing since sliced bread. They should have made him sit in jail a few days, then maybe it wouldn't be "so worth it I'd do it again." I have no tolerance for people that want to do the same stupid thing TWICE and admit it.

Can you pass a message along? He is most certainly NOT the coolest - only the stupidest. And that cop is my hero!

He deserved to get tazered. I mean, what are they supposed to do...chase this kid around the field all night until he gets tired and "gives up"? He was 100% aware that what he was doing was wrong. His father admitted that the kid called him immediately before running onto the field & asked his dad if he should do it (duh!). The father told him not to, but he did it anyway.

Stupid is as stupid does.

:)

I keep picturing the scene from The Hangover when they have to taser the big guy again because he doesn't go down the first time!

Totally appropriate, good for you cops!

Terri

I am going to reply BEFORE reading any other answers, lol.

I think it's not too much -- he deserved a taser strike, imo. I just really, REALLY wish the news would blur out the idiots' faces so they don't get what they wanted out of it all (15 minutes of fame). A few seconds of taser, and now living up the continued fame from his stunt. Arrrhggghh. WHY encourage it by giving them air time??

Ewe, Tara!! I didn't hear about that one! People are so gross! (my DS14 was at the Phillies game with friends on Sunday night...GREAT game!!!! Best.Game.EVAH...according to him! :) )

the broadcast of the game here didn't show him at all (policy of MLB that their tv broadcasts don't show any footage of idiots like that).... all we got to see was some players laughing at him flopping to the ground after being hit....

good for the cop in bringing him down..... should have given him a second jolt just to make sure ;)

i don't understand the poll, so i can't answer that.

but i think it's a little absurd to taser someone who is just running around on a field. he wasn't endangering himself or anyone else. i mean what's next, just shooting someone for running on the field??

there were like 4 other people running after him BESIDES the cop and they were almost to the guy when the cop(was that even a cop? or was it a rent-a-cop?) decided to taser him.

I agree. There have been people die from being tasered.

More security should have come out, and they could have caught him without resorting to tasering.

He is still in his teens, immature, but yet he should have some sort of punishment. Community service or something. But definitely not tasering for an "offense" like that. Good grief.

He wasn't tasered as a form of punishment. He was tasered to keep him from injuring someone.

Anybody remember the manager or was it the first base coach who was attacked by a fan who ran onto the field? I want to say it was at a whitesox game but I can't remember.

Yep, it was at a White Sox game and it was actually 2 guys - a teenager and his father who was only in his 30s. I believe it was against the Royals and I think it was the first base coach and I think it partially damaged his hearing in one ear. Nice, huh? :sad2:

Shoulda brought that Gramma from the other thread out to whallop him upside the head... :thumbsup2

I think he deserved it; I'm **sure** he knew perfectly well he was going against the rules, and if you disobey the rules, there is a punishment. It's high time people stopped freakin' babying everyone; take yer medicine and don't try to blame someone else for your stupidity and the results of it! UGH! :headache:

I'm on the cop side of this one:thumbsup2

Funny story. I was just at my dd's high school saoftball game and 2 little kids about 3 and 4 ran across the field. The game stopped while they were running and one of the players dads yelled "Taze 'em.":rotfl2:

Here, it is on news, especially cable news' talk portions. The best punishment, IMO, would be to not give him the notoriety he apparently seeks. He's probably all over youtube by now.

Don't taze me, bro!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, he got what he deserved. BAZINGA.

No question that the kid was stupid. But so was the cop. He could have injured or even killed the kid with the taser, and there were other ways to control the kid.

I love nothing better then seeing these idiots that run on the field get tackled by the police like they are linebackers or anything else so I say good for them.

After the Monica Seles incident anyone who enters the field should be treated as though they are doing it to specifically harm one of the players. There is no reason for anyone to be entering the field unless they are escaping a fire or some other highly unlikely scenario like that.

In England the fan would be banned from the ground, possibly for life, and I would be all for that.

My feelings exactly.
