Let me jump on this Talor Hicks love train
I love love love him too
He makes me happy, he makes me smile, he makes me get right up off the couch and cheer. He's got IT running thru his veins
He was a bit off last week but I can't help wondering if its from all the instruction he gets from these special guests trying to get him to make changes. He just needs to do his own thing his own thing his own way .... and just let it all hang out!!

curious though .... I'm ....shall we say.... not young...are some of you Taylor lovers ...say.. under 30? Just curious if he's appealing to all ages or just us older folk

I'm 33 and I think that Taylor is really really really HOT!

He just seems to love what he does so much! There is something very attractive about his passion!

I will be honest; this is one attraction I just don't get. He isn't good looking, I don't like his hair and he is mediocre. What is it about him?

I hope I don't get attacked for saying this but I agree with you, Dawn. I just don't get the attraction. I understand that people are attracted to different things but I just don't get why so many people like him.

OP here and I want to say that it's totally okay if you don't get him. Someday when he's selling out concerts and you all don't buy tickets, that will get me that many seats closer to the stage!!! Really, it's cool. This doesn't have to be a fan thread, necessarily. Hey - I'm a Barry Manilow fan. I can take pretty much abuse.

The only thing that gets to me sometimes is the general opinion that he's "silly" or the "drunk wedding singer" reputation he's getting. He's in fact the single most serious musician of these contestants. He's a songwriter (a good one) and has cut 2, I think, CDs. I've downloaded a few songs and they're great. I will admit that without having heard HIS real music, I may not "get" him either. It's not a real physical attraction for me. He's cute because of his passion for the music. I just love to watch a musician who just loses it in a song. His ending to "You Send Me" is a great example.

A little nervous about this week because he's going to try one of the more boring songs from another of my favorite bands (not wanting to spoil it.)

Oh and I had read on a blog that someone heard a radio interview with Taylor's cousin. And word is that he was feeling "down" the past couple weeks. The interview hinted to the effect that this week he was going to ignore the producers and do his own thing. A Taylor concert, he called it.

Mickeyfan - Nigel said Taylor was off last week and he thought it was because they made him change his song choice with one day till the show. He was supposed to sing "Try a Little Tenderness" and had practiced that song. Well apparently with 24 hours to go, they came to him and said it wasn't appropriate because they couldn't see Bocelli singing it. Like Bocelli would sing that Bryan Adams song? Please. The other night he was off - country night? Same thing. One days' notice to change his song because they decided that the artist he picked (Hank Williams Jr.) was not "idol" material.

I LOVED Taylor in the beginning and I still do. But I love the Taylor who does his own thing -- not gets forced into a "country" or "love songs" or "Barry Manilow" or "Queen" mold. I've heard his original independently produced album, and THAT'S MY Taylor.

I don't want to make you guys jealous or anything, but he only lives 2 hours away from me...

I was in Birmingham today and saw a billboard that said "Birmingham Loves Taylor Hicks"

I was thinking Birmingham wouldn't be such a bad place to live!

you've got to love Taylor. He just puts a smile on my face every time I see him. I see him more of a brother or good friend. It is just fun to watch.

For me personally, it's not that type of attraction. I do love that salt and pepper hair though. He just demonstrates such incredible passion for music and to me it is contagious.

This is one of the things I like so much about Taylor too. When I see him sing and dance it makes me smile. He is so into his music and obviously loves what he does with his easy going ways. I'm rooting for him all the way!!

Sometimes I find Taylor really entertaining and sometimes I find him very disappointing. Physically and personality wise, he does nothing for me, so he has to work for my admiration!

To the OP, one of the reasons that Taylor has so many posts on the AI boards is that many of the other fan threads got deleted at one point.

There was a problem with the boards and a whole bunch of threads were accidently deleted including entire fan boards. It seems to be some sort of competition over there as to who has the most posts in their fan's board and they were not very happy when a lot of stuff went poof!

From what I've seen, few fans are well behaved over there, that's why it has the nickname of the "nasty board".
