How much do taxis usually cost going form the DTD area resorts to the parks? These hotels are so much cheaper than being on site, but I am a little worried about using their busses vs the Disney busses. Would I still save money if I used a taxi to get around instead? Are there usually taxis hanging around or would I have to call ahead to get one?

i am curious to know the answer to this in reverse however. we are staying on ground but want to go to a few resorts to check out the xmas decorations and i feel it would be better to go with taxi's instead of jumping from bus to bus. it would definatly save us time.

as for staying off property and counting on the hotels busing. we did that once when we stay at the holiday inn sunspree and it was a night mare. the hotel was nice but the busing was horrible. this was several years ago so maybe things have changed but we swore then we would never stay off property again.

If You are "comfy" with busses, the dtd buss are better that Disney.(i think).
They leave every 30,min.(one for each park).
They stop at other dtd hotels.

If you not "comfy" with the buss, it´s no prob, hailing a cab on the street there.
An approx cost can be found using this fare meeter, here.,(ad an xtra 5$,then ur fine).

(Insider tip for the trip. Bus "LYNX" from MCO-DTD cost 3 dollar adult, half price child, and stop outside the Best Western.(Doubletree, other side of street). Use 45,min. 1 bus no transfers, sit and relax.
Thats 100$ SAVED on Your trip.:thumbsup2

Is that true? I was looking at the Lynx site and saw the sched/route. wow

Yes. Thats True.
"No One" takes the bus "over there", and it´s so strange that folks tries to save on this, and that, when they can save 100$ on this great bus system if staying at DTD(and other places).
These buses are very clean, and very reliable.(As stated on the DIS Podcast).
The 111 bus goes from MCO,on the hr, and has it´s final stop @ the TTC.(MK).
