Taxis at the Port of Barcelona

Thanks for that Mel! We were in the Mickey group and were amongst the last off, we actually waited until they made the announcement for all guests who had finished breakfast to please leave as our transfer was booked for 9.45 so we were in no rush.

Perhaps between 9 and 9.30 there was a huge wave of debarkers, or maybe another possible theory is that if you go with a porter then you somehow go to a different area of the line  The porters have to be kept busy and earning tips so they can't be tied up waiting for long periods in the line so maybe there is some kind of arrangement there

Who knows, but I have now seen that horrific line on 3 occasions and I would never take the risk of it again!

No re the porters - we used one and he dropped us off at the corner with our stuff and I had to ultimately drag it over to the taxi area. Other porters actually stood in line with their customers (I thought that was odd considering how much biz they lost waiting that long).

We used the aerobus for 5 euros per person (baby not charged, of course!) and it had PLENTY of room for our luggage, strollers etc. It dropped us off right near our hotel about 10 minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya and then when we went to the port we walked to the port shuttle bus. It was quite a pleasant walk at 10:45am in August. Not hot or sunny as Las Ramblas is actually quite shaded and nice earlier in the morning. People in Barcelona don't tend to be out until noon anyways lol. After the cruise we jumped on the shuttle bus and walked about 15-20 minutes to our other hotel in the Gothic Quarter. Also, we had a two carryons, two rolling luggages, a baby and a stroller. We put the baby in an Ergo carrier and the carryons in her stroller. My husband rolled the suitcases. It was simple and very pleasant. Just another solution. When we left on monday after the cruise we walked 5 minutes to the aerobus stop (hotel in gothic quarter) and got to the airport within 30 minutes during rush hour.

I am so sorry to hear of your problems, it sounds horrid, especially after a lovely cruise too.

We must have been lucky both in June on the Barcelona Repo. and on 28th August, when we got back into Barcelona on our 10 nighter. Both times we just jumped in a taxi, no queues.

When we got off the ship in Barcelona it was around 8.30ish and there was hardly any queue (over the road from the entrance), our ship was full too, so maybe it was the time we got off.

From Hotel to Port, a few people from our cruise meet thread pooled resources (both times), and used a company http://www.barcelona-airport-transfers.com/ Both times they were exceptionally efficient, turning up in plenty of time with clean, newish, air conned vehicles and helpful drivers. One group was larger and they had a small trailer on the back for the cases.

They only do pre-booked transfers, but I am sure would do a smaller group to the airport. I booked via email, they gave me a clear confirmation to print out and I just emailed a few days before I left to once again confirm they had the booking in the diary. I would have no qualms in recommending them.

We used Barcelona Airport Transfers for our May 2010 Med Cruise.

I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about them. We booked from airport to hotel, hotel to port then port to airport. :thumbsup2

Each time/trip our driver was early and ready for us. It was such a comfort to have someone waiting for us at each place.:thumbsup2

Our driver was Carlos from the hotel to the port and port to the airport.

Absolutely wonderful experience:thumbsup2

We booked online and had confirmation through email. Just perfect!!!!!
