Hey everyone- I am doing the happy haunted 5k and since I'm staying at Pop I need my own transportation to and from Wide World of Sports, as well as to packet pickup beforehand.

Can someone tell me how taxi service at Disney works? Do I need to call ahead? I would need an EARLY cab ride the day of the race, would I call the night before or the morning of?

Thanks in advance!

I recently had to take a taxi from CBR to chef mickey's. We called Mears the night before and told them to pick us up at 6:45. They called in the morning to let us know our cab is on the way. All we told them is where to pick us up, and they were right on time! :) You could probably call in the morning, but to be safe I would suggest calling the night before.

Great! Thank you so much!

For race packet pickup I wouldn't necessarily pay for a cab. If you can get yourself to a park or DTD I would then go to an official race resort and take one of the busses from there. Shouldn't add that much travel time. But I also suppose POP is pretty close to WWoS so a cab wouldn't be too expensive either.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking this morning too about getting to a host resort!

My dd and I are participating in this 5k also. We are staying at CBR and I was wondering how we would get to WOS too. Thanks for starting this thread. What do you mean by "host" resort?

If you stay at the "Host Resorts" they provide transportation for you. I think they have at least one at all the levels, but I know for sure the All-Stars are host resorts.

Actually, it's very likely that Disney Transport buses will be running between Pop & EWWS during the pre-race Expo.

We normally run buses from Pop, All-Stars, and CBR Customs House whenever anything is going on at the sports complex, but usually not for early morning race starts or finishes. The downside is the Disney buses to EWWS run only every half hour.

The operating schedule varies, and is distributed to bus drivers on Sunday for the current week. Check with any Disney bus driver to see if the schedule fits your need for packet pick-up.

And BTW, Pop is just a few miles from EWWS, so I would expect cab fare to be in the $10 range. The distance on the entrance roads into Pop & into EWWS is probably more than the actual road mileage between the 2.

CBR is a host resort - that means that there is bus service from the resort to the World of Sports for the Expo and Packet pick up and bus service to and from the race.
When our daughter ran the Princess half, we stayed at Yacht Club which was a host resort for that race. It was great having a bus before 5am as a lot of roads were closed for the race (the road closures shouldn't be in place for your run as it inside the WOS complex).
Allow yourself plenty of time for packet pick-up. The roads to World of Sports can be quite crowded and there can be traffic jams getting to and from.
The host resorts for that weekend are:

Value
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort
Disney's All-Star Music Resort
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

Moderate
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

Deluxe
Disney's Beach Club Resort
Disney's BoardWalk Resort
Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Thank you for the info! I will definitely ask ahead of time!
