my mom and I want to cab it over to play in the casino. Anyone done this? Price of taxi...US dollars at Atlantis?

There are shared shuttle vans that aren’t standard taxis, which is what most people take between Atlantis and the cruise terminal. When we were there last (about three years ago) it was $4 per person. Those are lined up inside the cruise terminal fence ready to take people to Atlantis, and they also wait at Atlantis to take people back for the same $4/person. Tips are accepted; we paid $5/person with tip, largely because it was easy to hand the guy a $20 bill as we got out, for our family of four. Edit: Apparently it's now $5/person

There are also regular taxis, which have “taxi” written on the side, and a meter. Those seem to line up just outside the terminal fence, on the street. There’s a standard rate between Atlantis and the cruise terminal. Edit: there's a chart lower down this thread that gives correct prices for taxis between Atlantis and the cruise terminal. It's always going to be more than the shuttles.

I’d take a van again. The first van we took was a bit old and well used, and the driver stopped for gas on the way, but subsequent vans have been newer and perfectly fine. Taxis in Nassau also tend to be old and well used, so I doubt that would be much better.

One trip we pre-booked a private van to drive us around, and that was great. New van, working A/C, great driver. But I wouldn’t do that just to get to Atlantis.

Yes, it's easy. When you walk out of the gates of the terminal, there are many taxis (van type) waiting to take you anywhere. I think they will quote you $4-5 per person to go to Atlantis, and may add people to your van until it's full. I think we paid $20 or so for our family of 4. Often, our same driver will be waiting outside Atlantis for us if we tell him what time we will want to return to ship.

there is also a water taxi

but you must walk thru the market to get to Atlantis

to some the market is the best part ....

They are official taxis....they'll likely have a license plate that starts with NP. The taxi union in Nassau is strong, and any non-official cabs would be quickly 'eliminated' with some rough justice.

Great info, as always! As to the vans, I was just trying to get across that they only go between Atlantis (and the Comfort Suites) and the Cruise Terminal. They don't have a meter, they don't say "Taxi" on the side. They also aren't private; they will wait to fill up in the morning. I'm sure they're licensed and official, or they wouldn't let them wait at the cruise terminal or Atlantis.

I have a question. Once you are at Atlantis what can you do? We have a mixed age group of kids and adults
Ranging from 3 to 16yr olds for a family reunion. Some of the family are set on doing some excursions at Atlantis
Through the cruise line but I was wondering can you just go there and once there book things? What if you just want to do the pool/water park? Or if some want to just do casino?
Thank you

The casino is free and about all you can do without being a hotel guest or pre-purchasing a day pass/excursion. You may want to check out the website resortsforaday dot com or something like that if you want to use pool/waterpark/beach. We are a family of 4 and book a room at the Comfort Suites across the street from Atlantis and it includes all access to Atlantis pools/beaches/waterpark, even though we don't stay the night in the room, obviously. That option has always been more economical than buying the excursion thru the ship.

We just spent 7 days at Atlantis this summer. There is a LOT to do there--for a price. There is a huge multi-age water park, beautiful beach, many pools, aquarium, snorkeling in a salt water pond, and many restaurants. There is also a menu of many different Dolphin encounters, but they book up quickly so book early.
