I would like to just grab a cab from SNA to the Grand Californian; I'm assuming they have cabs ready and waiting?

This is our first trip to Disneyland, so I've never flown into SNA before, so, how long ahead of our flight should we grab a cab from Grand Californian to return to the airport? Say our flight leaves at 10 am? Can I simply go up to a Grand Californian concierge desk and have them call a cab?

And it'll cost you around $60 (plus tips for baggage)

Expect closer to $45 plus tip average to the GCH for a taxi. Used to taxi al the time before Uber which is closer to $25 average, but taxis are faster as they are there and waiting. Last few Uber requests took like 15 min and I regretted not just hopping in a cab.

On the return trip, there are taxis on standby at the GHC. Ask the valet for a flat rate voucher to SNA..think it is $40 flat rate. In no traffic it is a 17-20 min ride door to door and there is not much traffic that direction at your time. SNA is also pretty mellow late morning so no need to arrive hours before.

last month at the disneyland hotel the bell hops gave me a flier that is flat rate of $40 going to SNA so maybe ask if the Grand Californian has that too. if you are not in the hurry and can leave a bit earlier, lyft or uber are good ideas.

Big tip---use Uber, not a cab. It's so easy. They drop off and pick up the same place at GC. Cost is $20, sometimes $18.
We use Uber exclusively and have never had a problem. Pickup is usually around 6 minutes, never more than 10.

Another +1 for uber. Our wait has been <3 minutes and it was $25 for a minivan.

An Uber I called had some difficulty getting past the GCH entry gate, but was eventually allowed through. Some posts on this board mention an exclusive agreement between DLR and the taxi company, which restricts access to hotels by Uber. Does anyone know the official policy? (if any)

Uber pickup at SNA is very convenient. When requesting a car, users indicate which "column number" they are near (the column signs are huge). Uber pickup can be faster than locating and walking to (and waiting at) the taxi stand.

We just got back from DLR and used Uber for the first time, we usually rent a car and one time we used a shuttle. All forms of transportation we have used have been super easy and fast - one time we had to wait for a car to become available but it was like 15-20 minutes. We always fly into SNA.

The app showed all the cars available around the airport, when I clicked for a ride it said it would take 6 minutes - took less than that. Same for the return trip (we stayed at DI&S). The ride was about 15 minutes, total was $18 plus tip - but I had just signed up so I had a free ride (up to $20) so we just did the tip. On the way back DH signed up using my referral, he got free ride and I got a $15 credit.

Next trip we do not get a car we will use Uber :)

I appreciate all the replies! I'll be sticking with a taxi this time I think, as I think it will be the easiest thing for us to do, I don't have to mess with my phone, or worry about waiting. We don't use Uber where I live, so this would be one more extra thing to learn and mess with.

I use Uber exclusively and have never had an issue getting past the security hut at GC. All they ask is guest name, they check their list and boom. For initial pickup, Uber driver knows your name and tells the attendant, they wave the driver through. It all checks out. Not an issue I've ever encountered.

I get Uber pick ups all the time from GCh without a problem...be willing to bet that you just had a doofus driver that was causing issues at the gate.

Also used Uber and had no problem getting past security at GC. Wait was less than 5 minutes each way.
