Has anyone ever used the taxi to go to the Catholic Church? -- Do we just have the taxi driver wait for us until church is over? if so, does the fare keep running? or do we have to call for a taxi when church is over to come and get us. I think I read somewhere where the fare is $17-$20 is that correct? sorry for all the questions - just like to plan ahead.

thanx

As a general rule, you NEVER want to have a taxi wait for you if it's going to be more than just a VERY quick stop, or if you're going to some VERY out of the way rural location. Let me just make up some phony numbers to illustrate a point. Let's pretend the taxi will cost you $20 to get to the church. It would cost another $20 to go back to WDW. You should not also want to pay a driver for his time to sit and wait for you while you're in church -- that could be another $20! I can't imagine it will be too difficult to get a taxi at the church, and if there are none there I'm very sure someone there would be more than happy to help you out and call one for you.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. The point is, unless there's a VERY STRONG reason why you want to pay someone to wait for you (such as being far away in a remote rural area), don't pay someone to wait for you. Put another way, think of a taxi as a RIDE from Point A to Point B (a one-way trip), and don't think of a taxi as a car that you're hiring for a day or a portion of a day.

thanx that's what i thought but wasn't sure how the whole taxi thing worked (from a small town) never needed to use a taxi. What about when we call for the taxi to take us to the church would it be feasible to have the taxi service send another taxi for the approximate time church would be out? -- I have read that at the church there are always taxi's waiting but I wasn't sure if someone had already "reserved" one and I wouldn't want to take their taxi. Or don't taxi services "reserve" rides.

Some do, some don't, it really varies by company. I guess if you can reserve a ride or make an appointment for one that'll be to your advantage.

HOWEVER, it also depends on the location. Some very busy places actually have long lines of empty taxis waiting for fares. In such a situation, a "rogue" taxi would not be allowed to pick someone up. The next person who needs a taxi would need to get a ride from the next taxi in line. I have no idea what the situation is at the church you'll attend. I suggest calling a taxi company in that area and asking them the question.

Like I said, even if there are none waiting for you, you'll be outside a church.
We can venture that most people attending church are nice people and wouldn't mind making a cellphone call for a stranger who's a fellow worshipper. Not to mention any help from someone who works at the church.

Good luck, have fun, God Bless.
