Taxi payment question

Everytime I have taken a taxi from Orange County airport to DL, and around the area, I have always paid cash. I really don't want to bring that much cash this time. Plus I'd rather pay with my Disney visa to get points. I'm always trying to rack up those points. Haha. So do taxi's take credit cards? If so, how does it work? Do they print out a receipt? Is there a place for a tip? Or do I have to tip in cash?

Thanks! 5 days and counting! Soooo excited!!

It depends on the Taxi Company. Some have machines right in the backseat which is great. You swipe the card yourself and there is a tip option. Some you have to give your card and they swipe and hand you the terminal. I've even had one cab driver use the old imprint manual thing but that was in Chicago five years ago.

They have to accept credit card but some do grumble about it in my experience. I always add the tip on the machine and there was even a spot to add a tip when the guy did the manual print.

On my last trip to DL we took a cab after dinner at Napa Rose from the GCH to the Hyatt and the machine was in the back.

Have a great trip!

Maybe I will just take cash. I'm not crazy about maybe having to do the old swipe thing in now a days age of having my credit card info on a paper. I know there's a million ways to take you cc info if they really want to. but I just don't like the paper thing.

Any one else with experience with this?

Last week the taxi from SNA to DLR was $45.
The return trip I had a Flat Rate Voucher from the GCH and it was $35.

I used cash, there was a CC unit right in the back seat.

We used my hubby's CC exactly one time in Feb 2013--for the more-than-anticipated cab fare from LAX to Park Vue (I didn't realize the price difference from LAX vs SNA!). At any rate, imagine our surprise at the $450 purse that was charged to our CC 3 weeks later. It was ordered from a college computer in Michigan, sent yo an address in New Jersey, with a "billing address" (not ours!) in Orange County. Our bank caught it quickly.

We don't have absolute proof it was from handing over our CC to the cabbie, but now, we will pay cash or only swipe the card ourselves, in a card reader in the back, so we can assure ourselves there isn't a skimming device.

No problem with cabs form the airport having CC machines. Used them many times without any problems.

I've even seen them use an iPad where you type in your name, credit card info etc. But mostly they have some sort of handheld swiping machine. Sometimes it's connected to their phone for internet access. I've done it & no issues of being ripped off or my card being used fraudulently. You can receive a print out or email receipt. I feel safer with credit because it's secure & you can always call your bank & dispute the charges of there are any issues.

Of maybe 50 trips I only had to do the manual thing once. I'm sure most have them in the back now as did the one we took in July.

Where do you get the voucher? Can anyone get it? We are using cabs for travel that would be a great idea. Thanks.

We asked at bell Service / Valet Parking at the GCH.

It's generally a colored paper about 8.5" X 3.5". It has all the various locations near DLR and the Flat Rate the taxi charges.
It can be used for more than just the airports.

I use to have a copy of one but I can't find it.

If anyone has a copy can they post it here for all to see?
