Taxi? How much?

Has anyone taken a taxi from the airport to WDW? My sister and I are planning a trip for February 2004. We want to be frugal on our expenses, but we don't want to travel to a lot of resorts before we get to ours. (Like Mears.) I like the towncar rental experience, but can we travel for less? BTW, we are staying in Pop Century. Thanks!

A taxi from CSR to the airport cost me $48.50 before tip. Not exactly cheap but what my boss required me to do. We usually rent a car.

You might want to consider a towncar service instead of a metered taxi. There are some cabs out there that might take you the long way... or you might hit traffic. And even though you're stopped, the meter keeps going. Towncar services are flat rate services, have similar prices, and better service.

I also say go for the town car. The cabs are expensive. It cost $2.00 for the first 2/7 of a mile or for 80 seconds of wait time, so if you take more than 80 seconds to load your luggage, you are already spending $2.00 and it is then .25 per 1/7 of a mile or 40 seconds of wait time. All that can add up. And as was pointed out, if you hit traffic or lots of lights, it keeps costing you.

Also if it cost almost $50.00 one way, you might as well just get a towncar since roundtrip on them cost between $75 - $80 from most posts on here.
