We are going to go to Cirque for the 6 p.m. show in August. I just made dinner reservations at Le Cellier in the World Showcase for 8:55 p.m.

What's the best way to get there in an unhurried, timely fashion?

The show lets out around 7:45 p.m. I figured getting to the Boardwalk is about the closest resort.

My experience with bus service from DD to resorts is mixed. We always stay at the WL and sometimes the buses come quickly and sometimes it takes FOREVER!

Any opinions??? :goodvibes

I know we will miss the fireworks show, BUT it is an Extra Magic late night at Epcot so people will be around until much later.

We have waited 20 minutes for a bus from DTD to the Beach Club. Then you have to ride the Yacht/Beach-Swan-Dolphin-Boardwalk circuit.
We have also taken a cab from DTD to the Beach Club. It was maybe a 15 minute ride and the fare was about $15.
For unhurried, I would skip the buses.

The Beach Club is actually the closest to Epcot as far as walking distance.

I am a big proponent of WDW buses but there is no way you are going to make an 8:55 ADR by using the buses, even if there is a bus waiting for you after you walk all the way to the PI bus stops.

Even though the DTD buses are as efficient and timely as the other hubs, the location of DTD, plus all the traffic lights on Buena Vista Drive, plus the fact that the BW is the last of the five stops... are gonna make you late for dinner.

Cabs are readily available especially after a Cirque show and I think that is the only way you have a chance of making that 8:55 ADR.

I don't want to muddy the waters but does anyone know if you can take a taxi to a resort if you are not staying there?

Of course you can, just like you can drive yourself to a resort where you aren't staying.

I recently took the bus from Downtown Disney to the Boardwalk. It took forever, and I was feeling pretty motion sick by the end. I gave up and got off at the first stop (the Swan) and walked over to the Boardwalk.

Okay, no bus to Epcot; that would definitely bring us to the wrong end of the park!

I always forget about the PI bus stop. We always take the free launch behind the House of Blues to the Marketplace and catch the bus in that area. That is another factor beyond my control. I LOVE the boat ride, but if we miss the boat, that adds more time.

I think my best bet is to pay for the taxi and go the Beach Club. Thanks for the advice about that resort being closer than the Boardwalk! I wasn't thinking clearly about that one.

Thanks for everyone's input! You gotta love these Boards!!!

You can not drive and park at a resort you are not staying at unless you have an ADR at a restaurant at that resort.

I have parked at POR while staying at OKW (we meet friends there and took the bus together). The Epcot resorts are a little different, as there are many cases of people parking there to avoid paying for parking, so things are a bit stricter there. But when I have gone from one resort to another, I have always just shown my resort parking tag.
But a cab will be able to go into the gates of a resort.

Not true.

True? Not true? Depends. If you want to eat at the CR, Polynesian, or GF, and then leave your car there for the day, whilst you head off to enjoy MK...then no, you aren't supposed to leave your car there. I don't know but that signage they have at the resorts stating that parking is not provided for park access leads me to believe that Disney wants you to leave your car elsewhere. Same goes for BW, YC/BC.
It's just not that big a deal at the other resorts....you don't find a lot of people leaving their car at POR or POP so that they can take a bus to MK. So, no one much minds if someone has a guest who leaves their car there and joins them on the bus to MK.

But...everyone is welcome to use valet parking at the deluxes. Then, you can leave your car and do anything you want for the day. It is only self-parking that can be an issue. And yes, there are going to be times when you are told to go right ahead and park your car wherever you want to for the day. But, here, on the boards, it's always a good idea to give all the pertinent info..that way everyone can be as well informed as possible.
