:flower: Looking at going to orlando in October for our Honeymoon for just 10 days but maybe looking at the non-driving option. If we stay at quality inn international (top of i-drive next to big McDonalds) they offer free transport to Universal but charge for disney(don't know how much though). Does anybody know the approx cost of taxis and does getting stuck in traffic make a difference or do you get charged on mileage only. We usually do drive but was trying to cut the costs down a little

the first time we went to florida in 1999 we chose not to take the car and we stayed at quality inn international after 3 days we had to hire a car.it was costing us a fortune in taxis.plus you havent got the freedom that you have with a car.. so i would suggest if you drive get a hire car.. it is great driving on thier roads out there. princess:

Hi Julie Ann

We stayed at the QII during our trip last October. The cost of taxis to WDW did vary, it was about $20 to DTD (the nearest) and $30 to Epcot (the furthest). They did do deals though, if you booked a return taxi trip.

We did not have a problem with traffic etc. And the ease of taxis are great. Taking public transport to MK is quite easy, as the bus stop is right outside QII, you change at Seaworld, and the next bus takes you right into the TTC, then just hop on the monorail to MK. Downside is this takes an hour, and the taxi trip is about 20 mins.

We budgeted for $35 (including tips) for our WDW taxi fares but found this a much better option than driving. No tolls, no parking fees, no getting lost, no driving on the 'wrong' side, and best of all I could drink!!!

Have a great time.

yes you can do deals if you book return trips BUT... when we went to magic kingdom i was taken not well and my husband telephoned the cab driver to pick us up early ... guess what no show!!!! so we had to find another cab.... very expensive trip dont you think?
yes you can get about without driving but why do you not want to drive?
thier cars and roads are far superior to ours and it is a joy driving out there.....it is part of our holiday looking forward to picking up our rental car and driving....
also how would you get to walmart?
not worth getting a cab there and how can you miss a trip shopping in walmart? :flower:
but thats my opinion...... :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Thanks for your opinions on this one - we have been 3 times before and always driven as the insurance for the car usually amounts to about £350 for the 2 weeks i was just exploring a cheaper option - but yes i agree that it's much more convenient and we do like to go to Walmart to stock up on refreshements!

Cheers

If you are going with Virgin - they have an office in Quality Inn Lo-Q as it is known and Mears charge $6.50 per person one way.You pay Virgin and they give you slips to give to driver - make sure that you jot down reference numbers when you ring Mears and specify LO-Q as there are 2 Quality Inns on I-Drive.
We were there end of last month so prices are up to date. They must have some arrangements with Virgin as if you phone them direct they charge $14 return. They will give you 3 morning times 7.15 8.15 and 9.15 pick up and you can telephone them (2 hours notice required) for return.
We did not stay for fireworks so don't know how late the return time can be.
We found that 8.15 was ideal time as normally you get to parks just about the time they open without having to queue too long.

Hiya. During our last 2 trips, we organised our car hire thru www.yescarhire.com and they were fab. Within a week, we had vouchers for Alamo and it cost us the princely sum of £215 including silver insurance (you'd only need gold insurance if 2 of you were driving) for the 2 weeks, a bargain! We will also be using them this October.
