Planning honeymoom for DS & fiancee for next January.

Neither has traveled alone (w/o parents) before, and they're afraid to drive in Orlando.

Any one have an approx. idea of taxi fare for 2 to following destinations:

1) Discovery Cove/Sea World

2) Universal

TIA

A friend of mine took a taxi from POP Century to Sea World and the cost was $23 each way plus tip, this was a year ago.
You might be better off going through Mears, they have shuttles that will pick you up at your resort and take you to the other area attractions. I think that the cost is $15 per person round trip. This way the cost would be certain, whereas with a cab the cost can fluctuate with red lights, traffic etc.

Have to agree with helenk. A taxi from Kissimmee to Universal was about $38 each way without tip; from a Disney resort it might be a couple of dollars less but maybe not.
Another option is a town car (if you or they want to splurge just a little. That'd cost around $45 round trip plus tip as opposed to the $30 plus lower tip for the Mears shuttle; and while they'd have to arrange a pickup time and a return time with the town car driver, this option is more flexible and private than Mears.

Thanks...towncar sound nice, not sure if I want to pay for it for 3 RT's (1 DC, 1 SW & 1 U).

Do you have to schedule Mears or do they "lurk" outside of off-site resorts (SW & U) & other attractions?

:goodvibes You need to call the night before to arrange pickup and when you want to come back call 2hrs before you want to leave. They have buses and shuttle going to Universal Studios up to 2 AM :cool1:

Thank you!

There's a public bus from the TTA to Sea World - would be something like $1.50 per person each way. Use the money saved to splurge on a Town Car for the Universal Trip.

Um, just how young are they? (Rhetorical question.) Be aware that quite a few hotels in Florida will not allow anyone under 21 to have the reservation in his/her name.

If that isn't a problem, I'd still suggest that they (singly or together) take a trip somewhere before the WDW trip; a honeymoon is *not* usually the best time to be trying your solo travel wings.

They're both over 21 & DS will be 26 @ time of trip. I think f-DIL is more nervous, she's only gone on 2 vacations  with her family...but they live very large when they do go (I could get easily pay for 3 trips out of what they spent on 1). I sense her family looks down upon bargin travel - oh well, their loss.

Think I might do a more thorough cost comparison on rental cars vs. other transp. It's one of the few things I'm not paying for...they'll ultimately have to decide for themselves.

Do think you're right on the mark as to the honeymoon observation. They're actually delaying the trip for 2 weeks after the wedding. Think it's good to let themselves settle in before the trip.
