Hi,
I have always enjoyed these discussion boards and this is my first time with a question.
We were thinking of not using magical express back to the airport and taking a taxi. Does anyone know how long the ride would be from the Beach Club to Orlando Airport? Are there always taxi's available in the morning? Our flight is on the earlier side and we didn't want to rush to get the Magical Express bus.

If it is real early you should arrange a taxi ahead of time. You still should allow the 3 hours reccomended the same as ME.

I would think that 2 1/2 hours would be enough. With a taxi, the OP would be guaranteed a nonstop trip back to airport and a drop-off near the right airline. With DME, it's possible to stop at other resorts and to go to to the "wrong side" of the airport first.

Also, I would recommend using RAC at the resort to avoid having to deal with bags on the cab ride and at the airport. Using RAC without riding to the airport on an DME motorcoach is allowed.

For myself, I'm not willing to pay around $60 to $70 for an extra half hour of sleep in the morning. I'd rather just go to bed 30 minutes earlier.

If the flight is that early RAC is probably not going to be an option. IIRC the RAC desk opens at 5am and bags must be checked at least 3 hours prior to flight departure.

I agree with the PP though that $60 plus tip for a taxi or towncar isn't worth the extra 1/2 hour it may save you over DME. Although it may well be worth the convenience for some :)

Yes there are usually cabs at the BC but if its earlier than 6ish that you need to depart I would make arrangements with Bell Services the evening prior.

Good point about the limitations of RAC for early morning flights. For me, 9:00 a.m. is an early morning flight, so RAC is an option. I try not to book any flights before 11:00 a.m. if I can help it.

OP did not mention a flight time.

For flights before 8:10 a.m., RAC isn't an option. Then it would be necessary to be at the RAC counter before 5:00 a.m.
