Tax treatment of income from renting out points?

Sleightly off topic, I swear that I read you are not allowed to transfer points to another member for cash or am I wrong again and I should just put my tail between my legs and go away for awhile???
Tramp68, if you look in the post in my sig about points transfers, drusba provided an interpretation of the "compensation" issue that sounds pretty plausible. Heh.

Back on topic, IMO it's nearly impossible to meet the dwelling used as home because 10% of the days it's rented out to others would actually be 37 days since Disney themselves technically rents out DVC to "others" every single day of the year.

I personally report our dvc income as rental income and deduct only a portion of our annual dues. You cannot really deduct all of the dues... (capital reserves for example) but this is a gray area and complex tax law that not many tax advisors will know a lot about, and I'd bet experts would disagree on what can or cannot be deducted.
