I am just wondering if any Canadian tax experts on this board can help me with some capital gain and dividend tax questions.
If I sell some Canadian stocks at a loss (e.g. CAD$ X) and gain some dividend (USD $Y) and capital gain (USD $Z) from selling US stocks, what is the income tax consequence? Can I use the negative capital gain ($X) to offset the capital gain in USD $Z and the dividend USD $Y? How to calculate the taxes? I am in GTA, Ontario and in a low-income tax bracket (part-time).
THanks a bunch!
