My brother just bought tickets in Delaware(a tax-free state) but paid tax on his park tickets(TDS).....i would love to know if anyone else has had this experience and how it all works!
Florida has a tax on theme park tickets. Florida requires companies doing business in the state to collect sales/use tax "on purchases made out of state and brought into Florida within 6 months of the purchase date." ( http://www.myflorida.com/dor/taxes/sales_tax.html ) My guess is the Florida Department of Revenue has made the decision, since it's reasonable to assume that most people will return to the state with the PH'ers within 6 month of their purchase, that out-of-state sales of tickets are taxable sales. The tax laws of the state where you make the purchase don't impact this. There's no federal prohibition against collecting sales taxes that are due in another state.
It can be good in states with high sales tax, you pay the 6% (I think that's it) rather than 10% (like if you were in Tennessee). Stinks though if you don't have it at all. I see their point I guess...
