Basically, the FL sales tax is 6%, but the two counties add their own on top of this (for schools). And in some situations, the state adds another tax on top of this too!
Orange County added a sales tax of 1/2 percent with the last election. Making the sales tax on basically everything in Orange County 6.5%. I've heard that in Orange County they want to raise it another 1/2 percent for transportation...
(6% going to the state and 1/2% going to Orange County)
However, I am fairly confident that Osceola never raised it from the 1% they already had. However, word has it that they are trying to raise it in the future here too, with another 1/2 percent to 1.5%. Currently, the sales tax in Osceola is 7%
(6% going to the state and 1% going to Osceola County).
And in some situations - as in resort hotels, on top of all that you have to add the state resort tax of 5%.
