Survivor 50 Thread

It kinda seems like Christian was the perfect person to get that. I can't imagine anyone else but him getting it with comedic expression.

See, this is what I don't get about Rizzo the Rat: he thinks he's such an awesome player, best ever, just give him the crown. But, all he's doing is hiding behind Cirie with an idol that was given to him. You look at Joe, Stephanie, Ozzie, Johnathon--love 'em or hate 'em, they're putting themselves out there, working hard to earn rice for their tribe. Cirie is a great social player. What, exactly, is Rizzo bringing to the table? He can't even make fire! Even if he makes it to the end, who would vote for him over someone who worked for it? He's only there to be a goat, at this point.

I'm thinking he thinks if he gets far enough the bonds aspect might help him. He hasn't done nothing, I count Emily as someone in the limelight that hasn't done anything because all she's done is just tattle and be in nearly everyone's group rather than actual moves.

Rizo even if I'm not his biggest fan I think he's trying to play the "student" role, playing to the other player's ego (like Coach) or to their known talent (like Cirie), he was able to discern more quickly this time around he is outmatched in terms of popularity on this season and switched up his gameplay to be a more workable player to others so he could get into an alliance.

But he will need to actually make more moves if he wants to be seen as worthy for Survivor and that will mean IMO he will need to be able to take responsibility for taking out Cirie because Cirie has more on her sheet that she can prove if she makes it to the end, Rizo can't have her there at the final if he wants to win (at least IMO).

I do agree with you that the old Survivor players are putting a lot of effort in now and I really like them but they may be putting in the effort because they have to, being used to the older ways, up against their limitations in challenges (depending on the challenge as strength-based is different) and the new era survivor like they mentioned in the very early episodes showing how much you can do for the tribe isn't exactly what matters as much any more. Sure people want and need to eat, that fact will fly out the window if they can get rid of you, in the past you might have been seen more as the valuable member, these days valuable is largely around getting a person to the step they need in survivor before booting you off. The jury over time isn't nearly as grudgey as they used to be, but maybe with old era players on there er that could be a problem.

I think that this is the most exciting Survivor season to watch in a long time. The players aren't able to guess what is coming next. One of the things that I used to hate was when an unbreakable alliance was formed early in the game. The result was a very predictable ending. And it became boring. I like the move to 29 days. I also like the frequent shakeups that separate alliances.

I loved seeing Jeff participate in a challenge. It was fun to see how hard it was for him to play.

I think that Christian could have completed the puzzle in time if he had just laid the pieces on the deck before trying to complete it on the stand. It was a small puzzle with words on it. Spell the words and you got most of it. But I do think that it was a bit of a dirty trick from the producers.

That was one of my fav parts so far this season, Jeff has been in there out in the sun just like the players but talking smack from the side is different than doing it with them. I loved that he was humble enough these days to pay homage to all the years of the challenges and attempt to do it himself. The flashback to him in the earlier days it's clear the years on the show have shifted his viewing of the players in a positive way.

If he completed the puzzle, was voting then and there without talking to his alliance or knowing how to best strategically cast his vote really a reward?

Agree, that was also a risk IMHO!!

While a similar challenge has been done before I don't think you can compare difficulty level due to production and editing as well as the different puzzles.

Buy set up to fail, I felt that the advantage for succeeding was not comparable to the penalty for failing.

At least it was someone who went willingly and volunteered to take the risk, Joe could have "sent someone" to go against their will.

Looking forward to next week :)
