what is the tax rate they charge on hotel rooms?

Thanks

11% on most of the resorts I think that some or all of the Allstar resorts have 12%

Tax rate has gone up 1/2%.

All-Stars, Coronado Springs, and Animal Kingdom Lodge charge 12 1/2%

All other resorts charge 11 1/2%

Same is true for regular sales tax.

All-Stars, Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom Lodge charge 7 1/2%

All other shopping and dining areas charge 6 1/2%

This tax rate was in effect for our April 2003 visit.

Because All-Stars, Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Animal Kingdom are in one county (Osceola, i believe), and the rest of WDW is in another county (Orange).

Each county charges different tax rates.

I see, thanks for the reply. I had always wonderedwhy they were different.:D

Some people on these boards will tell you the cost of a room they got, but don't include the tax. As you can see, the tax is significant and makes a large difference on what you pay. So when you see the room rate, make sure it includes tax.

Basically, the FL sales tax is 6%, but the two counties add their own on top of this (for schools). And in some situations, the state adds another tax on top of this too!

Orange County added a sales tax of 1/2 percent with the last election. Making the sales tax on basically everything in Orange County 6.5%. I've heard that in Orange County they want to raise it another 1/2 percent for transportation...
(6% going to the state and 1/2% going to Orange County)

However, I am fairly confident that Osceola never raised it from the 1% they already had. However, word has it that they are trying to raise it in the future here too, with another 1/2 percent to 1.5%. Currently, the sales tax in Osceola is 7%
(6% going to the state and 1% going to Osceola County).

And in some situations - as in resort hotels, on top of all that you have to add the state resort tax of 5%.

If anyone knows otherwise please let me know.
