For years it had been my dream to spend Christmas in M.K but because of work this wasn't possible until this year, so as a treat for mine and DH 40th we booked, 10 nights in Fairfield Inn LBV and moving to AKL for 9 Nights on Christmas Eve.

Day 1

Up at 5.30am for a trip to Manchester airport after a sleepless night with a bad cough that has been lingering for a week.
Checked in early and went to Garfunkels for breakfast and a spot of people watching. We were sat around the edge with a view looking down on the people going thru’ security in terminal 1.

The number of people trying to take litre bottles of water with them was unreal. There are still signs up stating what you can and can’t take thru’.(you can buy as much as you want when you have passed thru’ security) Hand luggage was another issue (my small handbag had to be classed as hand luggage – usually it’s allowed in addition to a bag) . People were being turned away and made to check wheelie cases in as hold, one piece was all we were allowed.

Flight set off 30 minutes late, not to bad but why is it that on a 747 we are the only ones who end up with the people that insist on putting their seats back as soon as the seatbelt sign goes off and huff and puff when you politely ask them to put them upright so you can eat. :confused3

The flight was good , very smooth with some good films .(snakes on a plane may not be a good choice to play in a confined space):rotfl:

Landed at MCO and boy could you tell the British had landed . Had read on the boards about a bug going round, everywhere you looked there were pools of sick covered over with blankets etc. Not that many people had been ill on the flight but as soon as they landed that was it.:faint:

The sniffer dogs were out and pulled a family who had a large bag of fruit (after warnings on the plane) and their cards were marked.

Picked up the car which was smaller than we have had before but still fine for 3 and headed for the Fairfield Inn at LBV.

Had some real Florida rain which stayed all night. Went on the traditional first night trip to DTD ,bought xmas hats for MVMCP tomorrow. Back to the hotel to un-pack and Pizza Hut for tea.:santa:

great first day. It is such a nice feeling to arrive and do your very own "traditional" things. Looking forward to reading more

If that film had been played when I was on a plane I would have screamed the place down until it was turned off. And I'm 28!, Just petrified of them thingies

I love the journey there :goodvibes

Thanks for all the encouragement. This is my first trip report. As soon as dh gets home from work i will get him to put some photos in for the next installment. If any one has ideas on how to make it better feel free, i'm up for any suggestions.

great start:thumbsup2 i agree with you that showing snakes on a plane isnt the best choice of film:rotfl:

Great start, Mandy. Sounds like the journey was fairly uneventful, and lovely to go and get your Christmas hats and Pizza Hut (my favourite place to eat) when you arrived.

Great start Mandy I have a feeling we were on that flight too. I know we were staying at the same hotel looking forward to some pics to see if I recognise you from the breakfast queue! We were unfortunate enough to be a row in front of the 'protein spillers' on the flight lovely :rotfl:

Where did you sit, we were row 42 abc. Not too many people being sick on the plane:sick: just remember seeing them all in the airport.

Further back on Row 56 DEFG just in front of the kids who screamed until they were sick with earache as we were landing :sad2:
