I have a question for TAs regarding booking a personal travel trip for 2010.

Do you know if it is possible to book a trip for the following year at a "to be determined" travel industry rate? Has anyone ever done it?

The 2009 rates didn't come out until very late in 2008, like maybe November or December???? I can't quite remember. We want to go next February for my husband's 50th birthday, but we surely don't want to wait for the TA rates to become available. I hope this makes sense.

Have any of you TAs ever booked something specific and asked to be notified of the rate when it came out? Or, should I book normally, withouth the TA benefit, and then "convert" it when the rates are released?

Thanks for your help!

You would have to book as a "peak season 09 rate" just like everyone else, then when the rates are released youll have to call back and have it converted to the TA rate.

It is my understanding that the TA rate must be booked online, after following the link from the "benefits" section of the TA website. An immediate one night deposit must be posted, then your TA information must be faxed within 48 hours for them to hold that rate. Instructions are on the TA benefits page on the website. Otherwise the res will convert to the seasonal rack rate. We did this last year, but knowing Disney proceedures can be changed at any time.

So the answer is no, can't hold a room and get it converted. They won't reserve TA rates by phone. TA rates are not available at all hotels. We had put in for a weekend at Beach Club at the end of our FD stay at CS in Sept. 2008, and only YC was available for a TA rate, even though it was the slowest time of the year.

You could book a rack rate room and pay the highest 2008 seasonal rate to wait for rates to come out. If the TA rates come out and you can get one just cancel the rack rate room and get the one night refunded.
