I guess my first problem is I absolutely hated the movie Nemo when I saw it. I still don't understand why it is so popular. It holds no appeal to me whatsoever. I will admit the Nemo sets are gorgeous, and the puppets and the show is done very well. But in the end, it is still just play to me, nothing really special. I can see plays anywhere.
However, Tarzan was a one of a kind act, and that's why I liked it so much. It wasn't anything like your typical play or musical. They did have the normal song and dance routines with a live band, but then they also added in tumbling, aerial acrobatics, and skate stunts. The action took place on the stage, over your head, and down the aisles. It wasn't a true 360 theater, but they still managed to have a lot going on all around you. I know Nemo has a little aerial going on, but it is nothing compared to Tarzan.
It's kind of hard to explain, but it felt more like an experience, closer to watching the Lion King show, than watching shows like Nemo, the Little Mermaid, or Beauty & the Beast which are good if you enjoy the movies, but I don't think are really anything special as far as plays go. Tarzan was closer to an act out of Circus de Solei than a play.
It wouldn't have to be Tarzan itself they brought back, it would just be nice to see something done in a similar fashion, something more elaborate, something different than a 3d screen or a play with actors and puppets.
