Hi

We are going with greek friends soon who wish to visit Tarpon Springs for greek Easter. As its quite a drive I'm wondering if anybody with children have been before and would you recommend it for families with children (12 & 9) as I don't want to go all that way if the children will be bored! Thanks in advance x

I haven't been and had to actually goggle it to find out where it was. It' sjust hte other side of Tampa so not that much of a drive (although possibly with young children).

Anyhow, I did a search on the forums for you and found a few threads which mention Tarpon Springs. It seems that Dixonsontour (one of our posters here on the DIS) has been so, with any luck, she might be along soon to give you some pointers/advice.

Meanwhile, here are links to some of the thread I found (a couple are quite old so take the info with a pinch of salt):

We've been a couple of times.

It is worth a trip if you are going to be visiting a beach nearby.

The town itself is touristy - lots of shops selling sponges and shells and greek restaurants. There is an impressive looking orthodox greek church.

Combines well with a trip to caldesi island - you go across on the boat from honeymoon island state park.

Nice beach and you can collect shells.

Thanks - shall have to decide if I'd rather visit there or chill by the pool! I I know what my boys would prefer! We live near a beach although not the best I'm never very impressed by sand and water ! Thanks again family discussion required I think x

We went when we stay at St petes Beach, not a long drive from there, and was a nice day out. DW buys lots of their soap, but discovered last time they have a shop at St Johns pass as you go to the boardwalk so no need to travel up to get them
