I know this was posted on the budget board but I wanted to post it here. I went to Target last night and there is some great things in there $ section for travel. The sky is endless with what they have. I picked up some carabiners to hook stuff to my stroller. They also had one that is a flashlight. I am going to let DD us it for dark rides. They also had glow necklaces.

Go check it out!!

I just picked up the same things last week. I got the car flashlights for the boys. But, man do they stink! They smell awful. Hopefully, the smell will dissapate soon

I understand why you want to, but NO!!! Dark rides are supposed to be DARK! Bringing a flashlight into a dark ride is the same thing as using a flash, or turning on your video camera -- it ruins the ride for other people by changing the effects. Please think twice about "lighting up" an intentionally dark ride.

My more than 2 cents.

I'm sure the other people on the rides will love your daughters flashlight.

Skip the flashlite - get a glow stick.

I have seen all over the board where people bring LITTLE flash lights for there kids! Like pen lites. I am not stupid! If it were even appeared that it would bother someone I would not let her do it. Come on give me alittle credit. I'm not the only one to bring it up here. The point was that they were having a good sale.

Good idea thanks!! I will get some!

It seems like you can't do much around here to get jumped on for little things. I see it all the time and am used to it. Cans of worms get opened for the smallest things.

I was thinking the same thing. Bright lights (flashlights, camera flashes, etc.) are extremely annoying on dark rides. I wouldn't do it!

we always bring flashlights on vacation... and keep them next to the bed at night 'cause it's sometimes disorienting to be in a strange place in the dark (and it's helpful to find the potty!)

thanks for the sale info... magnetic car games sound like "must haves" for our very long car trip to PA in a few months :)

When our kids were very small they always had a tiny flashlight with them- it barley even glowed let alone shine bright. It gave them a way to be brave in a dark place. I have no doubt that that tiny flicker of light ever bothered anyone.
Now we need a little flashlight to read the menus in some of the resturants- especially Mexico!

Sorry but I don't agree. she probably will be able to handle the dark unless it's a scary ride, in which case, have her decide if she can go on it.

But no I would be pretty annoyed about that. If you want glowsticks that's cool because it doesn't disturb anyone else. besides that, please dont bring a flashlight on a dark ride. ruins it for oither people

I'm pretty sure TheZeppo's remark was sarcasm.

LOOK the whole point of the post was to tell you guys about a sale! I am not stupid I will be keeping other people in mind! My daughter is 3 so I won't be taking her on scary rides. I just got it to make her feel better.

So enjoy the sale if you want. Otherwise please get off my butt.

Thanks

OK, simmer down everyone!

OP, I appreciate that you were trying to help everyone out by letting us know about some great stuff on sale. However, you did say that you would be using a flashlight on dark rides which has an effect on others riding the ride. While, it could have been stated nicer by some, there are alternatives to flashlights on the rides. The glow sticks/necklaces are a great thing for little ones who are a little apprehensive about darker rides and they don't cause the disturbance that flashlights do. My DS#2 really liked having the glow sticks on Haunted Mansion but the other rides didn't bother him. I can see how little ones would be tempted to use the flashlight to illuminate other things and spoil the ride for others. Typical behavior for a little one! Go with the glow sticks - they are a much better choice :thumbsup2

In any case, have a magical trip :wizard:

Chell...that was AWESOME! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Another good response would have been: "You're focusing on the wrong part of the story." :rotfl:

Just got the child's green poncho, a nice small hard case w/ little straps (I'll put my glasses in here for certain rides). Thanks for the head's up.
