Target Savings Thread

I am soooo excited. Okay...went to Target today with DD 10 to purchase a lot. List included pet supplies, cleaning products, shampoos and shower stuff, and grocery items. Big trip. Anywho, got to check out and the very nice girl rang me up. Grand total $147.00!!! This is where it gets good. I gave her my "stack" of coupons and I ended up paying...$107!!!!! I was so happy. That is a $40 savings! My DD was so proud because she worked very hard with me checking prices and coupons. Don't ever let anyone tell you coupons are a waste of time. Just couldn't wait to share.

Here are the results of my trip to Target

2 big bottles of Palmolive(target q-$1x2, manu q- $1 off 2)
2 Colgate Toothbrushes (target q-$1x2, manu q-$1x2)
3 Colgate toothpaste (target q-$1x3, manu q-$1x3)
2 boxes of 2 count truffles (manu q-$1 on clearance for $.64 each before q)
25 bags of Chex Mix Chedder flavor (clearance for $.68, target q-$1x25)
6 100cal Ritz cracker mix (target q-$1x6)
1box each Betty Crocker Stackers and Gushers(manu q-$.75)
2 Men's Speed Sticks(target q-$1x2, manu q-$1)
1 Snack Sack Teddy grahams (target q-$1)
1 Snack Sack Chips Ahoy (target q-$1)
1 Vitamin Water (manu q-$1)
3 boxes of Quaker Granola bars (target q-$1x3, manu q-$1x3)
1 bag of Quaker Rice Cakes (target q-$1)
15 boxes of Kellogg's Special K Fruit and Yogurt (manu q-$1x8 also got $15 in gift cards)

and I paid.......$13.05 after all my coupons.

I did encounter a problem with my Kellogg's cereal q's because the cashier would only take 1 of my coupons because she said I was already getting the $5 giftcard for buying 5 boxes and when I explained I get a $5 GC because it is the Target sale she called another lady over and said "I can only take one of these right?!!" and the other lady goes oh no they are photocopied so don't take any of them and she walked away before I could tell her they were not and I own a black and white printer at home. I then pulled out the sheets of store coupons I printed from the GS computers right before I started my shopping trip but the cashier would not hear of it. I demanded she call a manager over so one did arrive and the cashier explained she would only take one of my coupons but the manger said if it scans you take it. The manager goes on to scan the rest of my cereal q's and they all go through when the original cashier goes "Whatever you finish rining her up" and storms off. So the manager was like sorry about that I totally understand internet coupons because I print them off myself but I guess some people don't and she said it was not that big a deal. Again it was at the store where the employee followed me around on a previous trip then went up to the cashier and told her not to take my coupons because I was attempting to cheat Target out of merchandise. Too bad it happens to be the closest ones to us on the weekend so that is why I went there.

I don't care because I got some totally awesome deals today and it's even better because all of my coupons went though and walked out of there with everything I wanted and used my coupons. So ha ha to that mean uninformed cashier.

I really Target! I wish I would have known about these deals earlier!

Target just PAID me $0.12 to buy the following:

3 boxes of Fiber one mocha chocolate bars (used $1.35 internet coupon, three of them)
1 box of Fiber One honey cluster cereal (used $0.75 internet coupon)
1 bag of Chex mix - small baggie found by some checkout registers
2 golden delicious apples

It cost $4.88 and I got a $5 gift card in return! I used the gift card from the Special K deal to pay for it! For those people that did not have internet coupons, Target was giving away coupons for Fiber One and free samples! Talk about a deal!

used (8) .75 off target cleaning supplies coupon
used (2) 1.25 off pizza coupon (man)
used (1) 2.00 of dry idea coupon (man)
used (5) 1.00 quaker snacks target coupon

Total after savings: 5.75 !!!!!

Thanks for the info about the diapers going clearance. I was disappointed though when I saw the new diaper display. They used to be $13.69 for 92 (size 4) and now they are $13.99 for 80. It's not a HUGE difference, but I was still bummed! I guess like everything they are going up in cost and down in product. Our store was out of the boxes but still had the jumbo sizes left.

I got 4 size 4 and 3 size 1 for $30.65. Size 4s were $4.01 and 1s were $4.87. I'm still kicking myself from last year when they changed the packaging again. All sizes were on clearance for $2.99!

They also had the natural diapers that are chemical free for $6.87 but they were the small package.

I can rant with you on this. The new packaging diapers have went down in quantity, and up in price. I compared these clearance prices to the new prices. And when that green packaging was reg. price it was still over a dollar cheaper than the new packaging. And to think this is a generic brand. Made me feel like i was getting one heck of a deal.

I had my mom look yesterday and she wiped them out-- 2 more size 1's (56ct) and 1 big 80ct in size 3. It was $20. I felt good about it-- esp. with prices skyrocketing. Over 200... and with taxes and all it was $20- not too bad! I just hope these dont leak- im having my first in September and dont have a lot of experience with diapers- lol

So does mine Its all *zip-code* related, depending on the area's demographics and cost of living, blech. Don't know why Target has to do that, CVS and Wags don't!!

CVS does charge more in 'poorer' areas and often takes longer to reduce prices in certain stores. The prices differ widely all over our county from CVS to CVS. Don't know about Wags, don't shop there as much.

Wow, I knew the clearances aren't done the same each week across the country, but didn't know about the difference in prices.

No, sometimes they charge more in poorer areas. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the deals at cvs and regularly post on the cvs thread. But you have to be careful at all stores with the prices. For example, until recently the store in the 'poorer' area of our county charged more 1.19 for the JJ buddy bar soap while the better areas had it for .99, this is just one small example. (now I noticed all the stores charge 1.19)

I have also noticed this with Target in our county. They newest store, which is actually in the less affluent area does not always have sales as good as the slightly older store in the better area.

This has also happened with the grocery stores around here, same chain in one store the double any coupon up to a dollar, so a .75 coupon becomes 1.00 off where in another branch of the same store the .75 coupon stays .75 off. Hope this makes sense. It becomes very hard to price compare.

An interesting site I just found about some of cvs bad practices is curecvsnow. I don't know accurate it is but interesting to look at.

The clearance chex mix is the small bag and it was on the end cap of the pantry section. I did notice that my usual Target did not have them on sale but the one I happen to go to on Saturday did have them marked down. Often times its a hit or miss thing and the prices are usually higher and their markdown schedule is not the same as the other stores in my area for examle the one I went to on Saturday I noticed their $1 section was only marked down to 30% when my usual store was already marked at 50% for a few days.

Yes, I see you on the MTB thread all the time.

DS hasn't had many leaks with Target diapers. Once he got bigger we started using overnight diapers because they were more absorbent, especially in the front. But now we just use a size bigger (huggies 5) and it works as good as overnights. I was totally bummed about the prices. And the diapers have huge polkadots on them! I'll leave you a note on the MTB thread as not to turn this into a diaper thread.

Great Target Deals today!! I ran into a grumpy cashier who tried to not take a few of my coupons. I politely pointed out that some of my coupons did not have size restrictions. She called the mananger who told her I was correct. She didn't like that and was snotty the rest of my transaction. I turned on more sugar and used lots of pleases, thank yous and have a nice day. Which I think burned her more. Oh well!

Where did you find the oreos/ 1.00 coupon from target. Are you talking baout the 1.00 off 100 cal oreos? If so they sell those in seperate bags for a 1.00?

I just started to get back into using coupons. I'm finding this thread to be a huge help in getting a heads up! Here's my recent buys over the past 2 days:

I'm hoping that some of the 50% off stuff will go to 75% off and I can re-buy and return. There were only a few pull ups in my son's size though so I didn't want to miss out and just bought them at the 15% off.

Today I used my $5 GC I got last night and bought more stuff. Somehow my coupons got all mixed up at the register and it came out in my favor.

So somehow, the free Mr Clean ended up being applied to the tube of Crest so I got $3.94 off but paid $1.79 for each pack of erasers. The $1.00 and $0.50 coupons got applied to the two packs of Always and the $4 always coupon was just listed by itself at the bottom. I have some pampers $1 coupons for diapers and wipes that I wanted to use on some of the clearance diapers but there are still so many packs left that I'm going to take my chances and wait for 30% or more.

Saved: $143.23
Gained: $10 GC

Okay... what's good right now?? I will have time to head to Target tonight while DD is at Rainbow Girls, so I want to spend some time this afternoon making up my list and getting my coupons together. I read this thread frequently, but since my nearest Target is over 30 minutes away, I don't get there much this time of year.

I don't do any of the Glade stuff and I don't need baby supplies. Other than that I am open. I have this week's coupons and last weeks' coupons that I haven't even looked through yet and I haven't checked out full cup or coupon world in ages. Any "can't be missed" deals I should look for tonight?..........................P
