Target returns without tag

Hi budget friends!

My dd just bought a pair of jeans at Target. She tried them on and thought all was great with them. When she went to wear them, she took off the tag and then discovered they didn't fit as well as she thought. We can't find the tag.

Does anyone know if they can be returned? We have the receipt.

Take them back with your receipt. Clothing items often have the numbers on the inside tag

If they can verify they are Target's you will be fine. If you paid by credit or debit card you don't need a receipt. They can run the card and find the purchase.

I recently bought DS a pair of shorts from Target. Cut the tags off and washed them. When I went to put them on him, they had shrunk so that the elastic in the adjustable waist wouldn't even lay flat...much less stretch any. I took them back. Since I had paid with a cc, they ran the card and retruned the amount without problem.

Thank you all very much! Dd will be thrilled she can get her money back and hopefully get the correct size! I hope she's learned, though, to never take the tag off until you are 100% positive it fits!

i tried returning my sons PJ's with the tag off. He didn't even wear them.

they did not return them because the tag was off. they said if the tag was torn or ripped off that they were worn and cannot be returned.

My daughter had a pair of jeans from Target that the rear ripped out on the 4th time she wore them. I took them in, no tags, and they just looked it up using my Target check card. No questions asked, they could see there was obviously an issue with the quality lol BTW, most clothing has the item # on the tag (not the sales tag, the tag in the clothing piece), so it's easy for them to just punch that number in if you've thrown away the sales tag.

If I could only count the number of times DD has done that! I never even thought to return...I always donated them. Next time I'll know.

regarding sleepwear, underwear, bras, blankets, etc. There are laws that retailers can not sale if the tags are not attached.

Thank you all for sharing your stories. We returned dd's shorts today...no questions asked!!! I didn't even have the receipt (I love how Target can easily look that up with your cc info!).

My Target is AWFUL about returns. The customer service people act as if you're asking them to take the money out of their own pocket.

As a result, I never, ever buy clothing from them. Groceries, batteries, movies -- you know, things that are not likely to be returned -- sure. But clothes, never.
