Target redcard/pharmacy question

I already have a target red card but we don't have any prescriptions. Is there another way to get the extra 5% pharmacy discount (people sell them online for example)? Also how many can you buy at a time? Our trip is going to cost us roughly $5000 (onsite lodging, tickets and airfare - hoping for free dining). I'm assuming I can only use the gift cards to pay for the lodging and tickets (I'll have to ask the travel agent how much can be used via disney gift cards). TIA!

I, personally, have never heard of buying someone's extra rewards cards and not sure how that would even work as the person's name is printed on the rewards certificate and is linked to their pharmacy rewards account but maybe someone else can chime in on that part. As for how many gift cards can be used to pay off your trip? The answer is unlimited. You can use the Disney gift cards to pay off your entire trip no matter whether it's a room only or a package. I've used the discount to pay off our trips within the past two years and am already buying them to start paying off our upcoming August trip :). Last year, I saved over $400 on my total package between my red debit card and the pharmacy savings and I had to use over 80, $50 GC's as the max denomination our Target sells is $50...was it a bit of a pain? Yup, BUT the savings was totally worth it! My only advice to you would be to save all of the GC's you use because if you have to cancel your trip for any reason, the money goes back to all the individual cards you used...I keep all my used ones in an envelope until we get back from our trip and then I shred them.

My FIL gets the 5% pharmacy rewards all the time. He gives it to us to use, and we pass it on to the person behind us in the checkout line once we are done, because it is good for an entire day. Never had a problem with FIL's name being on the card.

Do you even have one prescription? This month if you transfer just 1 prescription and sign up for pharmacy rewards you get the 5%.

How quick do you get the reward coupon? If I transferred I script today, could I use the coupon tonight?

My experience has been about 2 weeks to receive it - give or take a few depending on how busy they are. Sadly, no you wouldn't be able to use it today.

Oh well, I'll be happy with my 5%. Thanks for the info.

No, but I could probably ask my doc for prenatal vitamins or something just to get the extra 5%!

But why? Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter. If you could even get aprescription written, insurance likely wouldn't cover it and you'd pay more out of pocket than you would for the OTC vitamins. Really, the discount isn't worth this.

The prenatal vitamins I've taken in the past were prescription brand. I need about $5000 in gift cards so another $250 off vs a $7-$15 prescription is worth it to me, or am I missing something?

No, not missing a thing!

My daughter is on Zyrtec, which is available OTC (cetirizine) for her allergies. Normally, we have a $10 copay but if the prescription is written "dispense OTC", then the copay is $0. So we pay nothing and it still qualifies for the rewards. Win-win situation;)

That's only one prescription and it would have to be filled 5 times in order to get the Pharmacy Rewards Card.

Just sign up for the rewards program. Then go online and sign up to manage your account online. You should get a 5% coupon in the mail just for creating an online account. You wouldn't need to get even one prescription filled to get a reward.

You can use this link to sign up for the rewards program AND to create an online account for your first 5% coupon.

Yes, but with my suggestion she wouldn't need to have a single Rx filled. In fact, you can do it all online and never leave the house!

I signed up when I filled a prescription, but I never received a card in the mail...do I need to go in and ask for a new one?

I signed up for the online account and received the card yesterday. Do they send the coupon separate?

My only experience with Target pharmacy was an outrageously expensive one! I had a script for a week of prednisone. It was written in such a way that regular "loose" pills would have to be dispensed and not an expensive blister pack. They wanted $38! Prednisone is a totally old-school el-cheapo drug. My cost at the pharmacy at work? 83 cents! (we pay cost up to $5 and 30% of cost thereafter for formulary drugs)

That being said, I still signed up for the rewards card. You sometimes get decent coupons and I figure I can get the antibiotic filled for the dentist the next time I go. If would hope 5 Ammoxicillin caps shouldn't be too bad.
