Target red card limit

No, you don't get 5% off of Target GCs. But you DO get 5% off on the "entertainment" GCs. It's been done enough times by enough people (myself included) to prove that you do.

Than the Targets in PA don't do it....I've bought a bunch of Disney GC's from Target with my red card and I've never received my 5% discount. When I asked about it, they told me its the same as cash and it doesn't get discounted.

I live in PA. Mine do it and so do the ones in DE and Southern NJ.

I live in PA and they do it at both local stores as well.

I specifically asked and they told me they don't do it...I didnt bother to try with my red card because they told me I don't get the discount. So I just used my DV to get the points. I WILL get the discount the next time I get a GC than from there.

I used the Target debit card this year and bought $1600 in Disney Gift cards at one time. I did 2 transactions, 1 for the first $1000 and then one for the remaining $600. For me it was about the history of my card that allowed me to do that. I had had the Target Debit card for over a year and I had made several large purchases which has built my status up with the card. I had tried to buy $500 in GCs last year and was unable too, so I called this time and was told I would probably be fine since I had a good long history with them. Of course I had the money in my checking account.

That's your problem, many of the cashiers don't realize it works. A bunch of the ladies at my store know I'm that crazy lady who comes in and charges all the gift cards, the new ones always act like I'm crazy until they see the total go down.

If my Red Card (Debit) has a limit, it's high. I bought three big televisions and a camera right after Christmas. That card went right through.

You don't get your 5% discount on GC's. it's cash, they don't discount that.

Wrong.

As I posted earlier in this thread, I did %5 red card and 5% pharmacy reward at Target in East York, PA. Bill was $2550 ish, $2450 in Disney Gift cards and about $100 in merchandise and I got the 10% off. Used them about 40 min later to book a cruise. I was reading off numbers for like 20 min!! But it does work in PA. 100%

I purchased $1300 worth today using my Red Debit card. It wouldn't accept the whole amount, but I was able to put $500 on my regular bank debit card and the balance on my Red debit. The cashier and managers were very nice, and they gave me the 5% back on the $500 (the part using my regular debit) in cash! They also told me something I didn't know: you CAN stack Pharmacy Rewards cards to increase your discount! They said there is no limit on how many you can stack. Two different managers confirmed this at my Target here in KY. I just wish I had known that a few weeks ago, but at least I saved almost 10%.

I did this yesterday for $2150 and was treated like a common criminal!! The managers kept saying I couldnt do it (even though I had just 3 weeks ago) then the manager stood over the cashier as she rang up 10 at a time. The cashier kept looking at the manager like "you are going to allow this?". It only drew attention because I had 43 cards. if I had 5-10, nobody would have said a word! Very frustrating!
I didnt know you could stack pharmacy rewards though. I thought it specifically said you couldnt in the terms and conditions. Will have to try it next time!

I also bought Target gift cards online for 6.5% off, and was able to use my visa for 1% cash back, then bought the $2150 with the 5% pharmacy reward card, paid with the gift cards (at 6.5% off + the 1% cash back) for a total savings of $280!! That is a ticket :)

The limit is a daily limit, right? So couldn't you just go a couple days in a row to get the amount you need?? Need to plan....and I just got my red card! :)

This would work if you were not stacking the pharmacy rewards.

Just back from buying my gift cards yesterday. I purchased 40 GCs and had my pharmacy rewards card. My first try was declined, so I put $1000 on my Target card, got the 10% off and put the rest on my regular debit card, so only got 5% off on that one. In total, we saved $150 instead of the $200 I was planning for, but that's better than nothing! Cashier and manager was very friendly about the situation. I was beginning to stress as we were holding up the line, but I'm happy we stuck it out!

Called last night to start applying my cards to my balance. Only did 10 at a time, it does take awhile. CM was very friendly and told me She was inspired to start paying her trips with debit cards...lol. ;)

I purchased $1900 in Disney GCs and about $300 in merchandise in one transaction this week on the Target Red debit card with no problem. My total after 5% Red card + 5% pharmacy discount was $1968.
Bear in mind that I have been working to up my hidden Red card limit for nearly a year -- the first time I purchased Disney GCs with my new Red card my limit was $300. Before this transaction my biggest was just under $1000 (also GCs), so I'm not sure whether the formula for allowing large transactions is based on length of time acct has been open, number of transactions, or $ amt spent. Target has no idea either -- have spoken to several people at corporate and it's apparently up to the computer whether your transaction will go through.

Gotta love the DIS! Went earlier to Target with my wife (our Target card is in her name) with her telling me the whole way that I was crazy, it won't work, it's embarrassing etc. I walked up to the counter with 50 cards and our 5% pharmacy rewards card and the associate told us she didn't think it would work on "gift cards". Wife began to smirk but 5 minutes later she and the cashier were both staring open mouthed at the total that said I had just saved $243.75!

Just finished using them to pay off our trip online and have a few "free" ones left for spending money. Thanks for all those on here that suggested this!

Went to Target earlier today to buy my gift cards (needed 88 of the $50's to pay off my trip). Well, the first 44 went through no problem, the 2nd half didn't. Tried calling the debit company & they couldn't tell me my limit (I've had my card for over a year and have been using it consistently). They asked to speak to the manager to see if she would allow me to use another form of payment and still give me the extra 5% manually and she refused saying that "corporate would no longer allow them to do that". I was so annoyed because I was also using my extra 5% pharmacy rewards card & was looking to buy all my cards today. But I will say that I'm more annoyed that not only did they say they couldn't tell me what my limit was but also that there was no way for me to find out...it's just absurd to me!

If they know what the secret is no one is going to tell you. Their system most likely has a complicated program in place that uses various factors to decide if it will go through based on if they think it is legit or fraud. Yes that's right, most people only buy large quantities of gift cards if they are fraudulent or trying to find a way to beat a system. In this case it's the latter, there is a loophole that target has allowed to stay open on these giftcards to allow us to buy them with the discount. i just hope they keep this in place because i am planning a trip in the fall.

Hi all my mom is a retired target employee but she still has a target employee 10 percent off card as well as her target debit card, will target allow both to be used on a disney gift card purchase? Thanks in advance.
