Hi been going to Disneyworld every other year for about a dozen years. Just found out about buying gift cards at Target using my red card. My question is how many years has Target been giving the $10 gift card when u buy a $50 gift card. If it happens every Dec. I might as well just wait till then :cool1::thumbsup2:rotfl2::confused3

I know the last 2 years, might be 3 years...

Do they do it every December? How do you find out when they are doing it?

Recently I opened a Target card. Would like the answer to this also.:dance3:

can someone please explain what this is to me? I am guessing that if you open a Target credit card account and buy $50 Disney gift cards you get a $10 Target gift card free? DO I understand this correctly?

The way I found out about it was on various couponing blogs and I'm sure it was posted on this budget board too. It was probably first announced on Target's facebook page.

It was a target coupon for a $10 target gift card with a $50 purchase. The coupon is limited to 2 prints per computer. You can purchase anything, not just disney gift cards. Combine this with the 5% off using the target debit or credit card and you got some great deals!

For the last two years, for two weekends, in late November and early December, Target has had a coupon on their website which you can download/print (I think you can print a max of 2-4) where you get a $10 target card with a $50 purchase.

Since Disney gift cards are classified by Target as "entertainment" cards, this works. You purchase a $50 Disney GC, pass them your coupon, the cashier scans the coupon and a gift card (to add $10 to it) and you get charged $50.

You then use another coupon for $10 g/c with $50 purchase, buy another $50 Disney entertainment card, hand the coupon over, get another gift card (for $10), use the first $10 gift card as a partial payment, and then pay $40 for the $50 Disney entertainment card. People have reported that the cashiers tell them they can do it up to 4 times with that specific cashier.

So I can only print a few coupons and I only can buy 1 gift card with each coupon. I was hoping to buy several thousands of dollars worth but that cant be done?:confused3:mad::mad::sad2::rolleyes::upsidedow

That would depend on how many computers you have and how many friends that you have with computers. :rotfl2:

Seriously, trying to get "several thousand dollars worth" of GCs using the coupons would probably send up a red flag to the store's loss prevention manager. Most of them won't blink if you were to come in every day and use two coupons each day. But not too many of them are going to be all sunshine and lollipops if you somehow got your hands on 40+ coupons and tried to use them all. If I remember correctly, there is wording on the coupons that limits the customer to "one coupon per visit".

As the PP said, you're probably not going to have a lot of luck buying several thousands of dollars worth of gift cards this way. The coupon is for a free $10 Target gift card when you spend $50, so that would mean one coupon per $50 Disney gift card. It is not a coupon that gives you a $10 gift card per $50 spent in a transaction, it is simply one $10 gift card for any purchase $50 or above. And the PP is also correct that there was wording on the coupon either limiting the coupon to one per person or one per transaction, I don't remember which. So it was only if you happened to get a really nice cashier that you were even able to use more than one coupon in a single transaction.

The wording is one coupon per customer.
So they don't have to let you use more than one even across multiple visits. Technically, if the employee cared and they wanted to look into it, it is fraud for you to use the coupon more than once even though your printer will let you print it twice. I know there were people last year printing and using dozens of them, but if you were the one person who got caught... I don't know what they can do for coupon fraud. I would guess you would need to pay the difference and probably have some sort of charges against you.
If you are looking for a good way to get a large discount, combining the prescription rewards and regular 5% off will get you just under 10% off on all of the gift cards you want to buy. No committing fraud involved.
