Target. Receipt lookup?

I am going crazy trying to find the receipt for a defective video game I purchased at Target, and I can't find it for the life of me! I just want to exchange it for another one.

I noticed on one of my other Target receipts it says "ask about receipt look up" on the bottom of it.

What is that? Anyone know? Does it have anything to do with lost receipts?

if you paid with a credit card - they can scan that and find your item. Its awesome - does not take long at all!

ETA - I think it can be a credit card and/or a debit card

I think I remember seeing it the last time I was in there. If you have the credit card you used you can give it to them and they can look up the receipt.

I'm 99% sure that's what I saw the last time I went in. I'm going to Target this morning to return something actually. I'll look for you and if I don't see the sign again, I'll ask.

Would a Visa Check Card have the same result? Im not sure if I paid with my Check Card, or a Credit Card?

I was just in Target yesterday and they were able to look up an item by scanning my check-just a regular check not a check card, so they might be able to do it with a check card also.

Doing returns at Target is the easiest thing! It puts most other places to shame with how they handle things. If you have your receipt they scan it and the item and - voila! - your Credit Card is credited. (I don't know how they do other forms of payment since I use a Credit Card for EVERYTHING!) No finding the item on the receipt, no filling out name and address. It is just so simple. I always tell them what a pleasure it is to do returns at Target!

Kohl's comes a close second, but I don't think that Kohl's has receipt look up yet. But they too just scan your receipt and the item and you are credited for the item. They take care of all of the discounts too! You are in and out of there in seconds.

What happens if you buy two of the same item and one is clearanced. Do you get the lowest price? I bought the Dream Sketcher and then it went on sale so I bought another and now I can't find the receipt for the first one.

I think Target does price adjustments only if you had bought the item up to 7 days before the item went on sale.

Actually, as long as you are exchanging the item for the exact same item, just tell them that you received it as a gift and it is defective. Usually for defective items, they don't require a receipt as long as you are just trading it in for the same item.

Went this morning (OP prob already went) and saw the sign- credit/debit card, blank check or "redcard" (target card) can be used to look up your receipt!

I also agree that something that is defective would be able to be exchanged.

On another note- Target holiday is still 75% here!

Ok, im back from Target. At first she told me to just go get another game (same one), and she would exchange it without the receipt seeing as though it was defective.

Just my luck, they were sold out of that particular game.

When I went back to the service desk she just scanned the defective game and within seconds found it on my Credit Card and refunded the money back onto the card.

If only everything was that simple!!
