For the first time, Target will match prices with online competitors this holiday season, including Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com.

Target will match online prices between Nov. 1 and Dec. 16. In stores, customers can show the competitor's online price for a specific item on their smartphone, or customer service can look it up to confirm.
 
Hum I see me doing a return to a certain store and buying at Competor :)
 
Target is making many changes because they are scared of Amazon. However it seems from my DH that works there many of them are short sighted.

This one seems good but only for a limited time.

Another is they tell everyone of the employees that service is number 1 becasue that is what you don't get online... of course they have no answer to "Ok are we going to have more people on so that we can get to everyone and they can find employees?" or "So if I help a customer and go a bit further I'm not going to get reamed out for not finishing my revisions you wanted me to do or not having everything zoned perfectly?"

Oh and the best one they are putting wifi in the stores... Great for me but I really don't understand this one. Now I can buy that product from amazon before I even LEAVE!!

Honestly the only reason we shop at target is that DH is there and we have the discount. I would not be surprised to see them going out of business soon. Maybe not everywhere but at least at our local store... espeically with a nearby town in our small county getting a super walmart

Service is #1 sure, but that doesn't mean everything else just goes away :confused3 If part of your job is customer service, and part of is it finishing revisions, or having your zones perfect, why wouldn't you be reprimanded (ore reamed out) for not doing what you are responsible for? This isn't exclusive to Target, that goes for any job, in any field.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I shop where its the cheapest. if I'm at shopping at Target, and see something I was going to buy at Amazon or Walmart.com because it was cheaper, and Target will PM it for me, then they can have my business. If I'm at Walmart and they would do the same, they can have it.
 
Yeah, I agree that maybe it's not the smartest to have wifi in the stores. The week The Avengers came out I was in my store to buy it and they were completely sold out. While I was in an extremely long check out line I bought it from Amazon and got it the next day. I love Target tho and refuse to shop at Walmart. I'm in Target at least 2 times a week and spend at least $500 there every month (groceries, diapers/wipes, house supplies, birthday presents, etc)
 
Best Buy is only price matching certain merchants and will not price match during certain times ie. Black Friday. They have also given associates the ability to determine if a product gets a price match or not.
 
I've wanted to ask this question for a while now, but what are the most popular devices that people have that benefit from public wi-fi at Target or WDW, etc.?

I have an iPod Touch, but I also have a SmartPhone so I don't need to get online with the iPod Touch in a public place. Sorry for the hijacked thread.

Well you don't seem to upset that you are wishing DH out of a job.

Target is actually fairly profitable and some of us shop at Walmart as a LAST resort. I find the service at Target FAR exceeds that at Walmart (of course that puts the standard at "we don't do service" :confused3)

I am in Target at least once a week. Can't recall the last time I wasted my time at Walmart. (but I do have to go buy gift cards tonight YIKES! )

At least your store still has customer service. All of our Targets have been redone with a Starbucks where customer service was and customer service is registerers 1 & 2. This happened when they added groceries.

So you have to wait behind people checking out, to do customer service things, like price matching, returns and something as simple as paying your bill. As you can tell, I hate this new format lol.

This maybe good for us, as we could price match and use the Target card to save the extra 5%.

The only reason the may have added the wifi is so u can pull up the add and show them, if your phone does not have Internet access without their wifi :confused3

I use my iPhone but the benefits of wifi in a big store (or anywhere really) is that when I'm connected it's generally faster, doesn't use data, saves my battery, and sometimes inside stores the reception isn't that great.
