Also if you are going to your primary care doctor -tell them if at all possible you would like something off the 4 dollar list.
They will try to accommodate you.
My DH says K-Mart (believe it or not) has a better 4 dollar list that some other pharmacies.
And you can ask your MD to write out the RX for 90 days instead of 30 days, and then you only have to go pick them up every 3 months! ( but you still would pay the $4 /month price, so you would pay $12 for the 3 months- it just saves you time *** you don't have to go every month to refill your rx).
At WalMart they are now doing the 3 months for $10.I think I heard Kroger was starting also.

I recently used target to fill my dogs medicine. Monday I had to put my dog to sleep , she was very ill from a tumor in her heart and was on four medications. One of which my vet was charging 60.00 for 60 pills. I looked on the target website and it was under the 4.00/10.00 generic list . I called the pharmacy and asked them if they fill medications for dogs and they said sure as long and my vet calls it in or gives me a prescription. So I called my vet and asked them to please call it in to target. They were very nice about it and knew I had just spend a ton of money on testing for my dog and my vet bills were getting really high. I paid 10.00 for 90 pills at target. I know things are tight now for most everyone and wanted to share this info in hopes it could save someone else some money.
