Target giftcard to purchase other gc

Ow many of you are able to use a target giftcard to purchase a different giftcard in target like a subway card, dinner card or movie card etc at target?
If your able to please let me know what state your in.

I was able to do it 2 years ago dd used her target giftcard to purchase a itune card. I just came in to cash in my shopkick rewards and was told I can't do it. According to store manager AP has told them they can't do it

just got off the phone with Target . I called the 1-800 # Target Giftcard Dept.
I first was told no. Then I mentioned I had been able to a year ago and other people have been known to be able to do it. The guy looked up the info and said yes, it can be done but not to purchase American express or prepaid cards and cand pay Target creditcard with giftcard but that other giftcards can be purchased. I asked him how can I obtain the policy in hand and he told me its under giftcards section. He said print it out and take it in. I told him that the Ap at that store said its not ot be done so then what if they still say no, he said have them call Target headquarters.
My question is , is a regular giftcard considered a pre paid card? I always thought prepaid were American express visa cards or cards that can be used anywhere.

I have done this repeatedly over the last several years, buying Disney, Smashburger, P.F. Chang's, Amazon (they don't carry these anymore) and Chick-Fil-a gift cards at Target using Target gift cards. Last bought Chick-Fil-a just a few days ago. I'm in Texas.

Thanks I even told her that others have throughout the states . She said they use to but no longer can and it even says on the back of the card. I guess it just depends on the store. I only cashed out one test get card but didn't cash in the rest of my shopkick rewards I have $75

Does the back of the card say it cant be used for 'entertainment cards' or 'target giftcards', They are different things. Historically - entertainment cards have not been excluded on target giftcards.

BTW- I wanted Target gift cards from shop kicks so I can use on up coming trips. I will be traveling to Solvang this weekend and a future trip to Redmond and Bend Oregon. I figured if I got target giftcards or target e-giftcard I could purchase food gift cards of local food place where I will be traveling to.

You know what you might want to try? Enter in the info for the ShopKick card into your Target app (their giftcard section). I've done it before just to keep all of the cards in one place, and then used that to buy disney cards. I'm not sure how they can say you can't use the gift card just because it's an egift card if it's in their own app.

I plan on trying what you suggested. Hopefully it works. When I went to Target I went to customer service and right away the clerk said, "NO, NO , it cant be done,"

The manager kinda did the same thing so whoever is in charge or head person in that store must be a jerk because their reaction was a firm no.

I went to a different Walmart today. I got my dining gift card. , got in line with a young cashier that looked tired . I figured she might be to tired to ask questions lol. ! It was 8:30 pm . I gave her my card and showed her my phone. She had no idea what it was. She asked if it was for a credit card payment. I said no it's an ecard payment for the gift card. She asked me how to do it. I said just scan it so she did and it worked

I notice under the barcode it stated it's not for American Express visa or ore paid cards . My dining card showed up as entertainment card.


Anyone get southwest cards with the target ecard shop rewards ??? If so what does it show up as on the receipt ?

For the record, a fairly consistent theme for those of us who do the "gift card" thing is that it is counter-productive to ask managers or cashiers about it. It is rare that they know their own store's policy about this. Just go to the checkout and do it - no need for any conversations about it!
