I went to Target today and signed up for the Target debit card so I could get the 5% off Disney GCs.
The cashier looked confused as to why it didn't work and she called her (line) manager over who said it doesn't work on any Gift Cards. I told her I knew it did, because I knew many people who bought them at a discount but didn't feel like arguing the point. The cashier the next lane over said it had worked for him in the past but he had a huge line and I had groceries in the car I didn't want to melt.
Next time should I go to the entertainment department to make it work? Just ask for a different line manager? How have you resolved this when you've run into this issue of them telling you you can't get 5% of GCs. I know I've read threads previously of other DISsers who have had this difficulty and overcome it.
I had the same issue last year and had to ask for the store mgr and then explain that they are not considered gift cards but rather entertainment cards and that they did qualify for the discount. He then brought me to the service desk and rang me up. It seems like you'll get some that do know & others that don't. This year, I'm planning to call ahead to the store mgr before I go in since I'm planning to use my red card and my extra 5% pharmacy rewards card to buy enough cards to pay of my upcoming Aug. trip. Saving 10% off of $3400![]()
taaren- are you saying that after you swiped the card and paid it didn't take the 5% off?
Like the PP said it doesn't show up until you pay with the redcard- but if you paid and it didn't take it off that makes me curious.
For two weekends every December, Target sells $50 Disney Gift Cards for $38 to Target Debit/Credit Card holders and for $40 for everyone else.
So plan ahead to save big on Disney every December. 20-24% Discount.
Also, H-E-B Grocery Stores in Texas routinely sell them for 15-20% off. 2-3 times per year they have a 7-10 day sale. While the Target deal forces you to buy your Gift Cards in $50 increments, H-E-B can usually sell you them in larger amounts.
Can these cards be used for disneyworld.com reservations?
Good ?
can these CARDS be used for all food restaurants at ie. DTD?
maybe we need a post as to what the cards WILL not cover.....

This may be a stupid question, but I have been interested in opening a Target debit card but don't understand how they work. Doesn't a debit card have to be linked to a checking account? I have only ever seen debit cards offered from banks![]()
