Target Employee discount question

I have a friend that works for target and said she will help me buy gift cards with her discount. Is there a limit to the amount she can purchase? I assume using my red card would be a red flag. I could always put money in her account. Is it as much of a red flag if I did it online?

While we can answer your specific question. I can tell you this is what we did. We have a friend who works for target and had them buy the GCs to save even more money.

Keep in mind that they can use the employee discount, red card discount, and pharmacy rewards discount. As they all stack together.

We never really thought about the employee getting flagged for using their discount...while using someone else's red card.
Humm...that could be an issue.

We just gave our person the money and they bought them
But you bring up an interesting topic. Hopefully someone else can answer that...as we are interested in knowing al well.

Be aware that they can get fired for using their discount for an unrelated person.

What you are asking is I am sure against Target Policy. I have never heard of a company offering a discount to an employee that allows them to use it/extend it friends.

I used to work at Target (great employer, IMO). It's against policy to use your discount for someone not in your immediate family. DH had his own employee ID as my spouse, but I couldn't get one for my DMIL or my niece. It's only for immediate family. As a PP said, it's a "fire-able" offense.

BTW, it's not exactly 15% it's like 14.something% (DH figured this out while putting our Target receipts in Quicken).

My husband had to fire someone who used his discount for someone not family. Security caught it.

I would not ask a friend to do it..not worth it. My DH worked for them and they fired several employees for using their discount for a friend. Always makes me sad.

thanks everyone to posting about this.

this is why when we did it...we gave them the money and they bought the cards.
no way to know that it was "not for them". As they used their red card and everything else.

But still one of those 'gray area' situations
and in order to had over all that money to someone- you have to know them pretty well.

Not a gray area.

You still had your friend use their discount for you, you paid for them. This is what is against the rules.

If your friend had bought them for you, they paid for them, then gave them to use as a gift completely okay. Anything other than that is breaking the rules.
