Target Debit or Visa Cards...

Not only do you get the discount, but you can also add a school to your account, so your purchases help that school.

The other thing that I love about the Target credit card, is it's with their own bank. So you're not dealing with Chase, Citi, BoA, or any of those really large annoying banks. And the interest rates were fairly reasonable, although the account was fairly old to begin with, so a lot of history there.

Does the instant 5% off include purchases from Target.com?

From what I've read online, you only get the 5% if you use the Target Credit Card. They do not give the 5% if you use the debit card.

Right. The website says that the Target debit card is not accepted at Target.com.

From the website:

The Target Debit Card is not currently accepted on Target.com

You can use the credit card like a debit card in Target stores because you can make payments at the Customer Service area. I always use my Target card at the register to save my 5%, then march over to Customer Service and pay the bill. (I don't like store cards as a whole, but couldn't pass up the discount. I really dislike having to keep mental track of how much I've spent and then keeping that amount in my account just waiting for the bill. This way, I can pay off my purchases right away, but still keep the discount.) Just a thought...

I've had a Target store card and now Target Visa for more than 10 years. I always pay it off every month, so I'm not too concerned about the interest rate. I set it to auto-pay each month and don't worry about it.

I use it for 5% off each purchase and also get at least 1 per month from prescriptions. I usually save that for a big purchase/stock-up. I easily save $30 a month.
