Target Black Friday Shoppers UNITE!

Nikki, I'm so glad you got your TV. You certainly earned it! But there is NO WAY in heck I'm ever going near a store or a mall on Black Friday. Just totally completely freaks me out, and NOTHING on sale is worth it! And since that Walmart employee got trampled to death, I'm even more sure it will NEVER happen! I'm always amazed that people go & survive!

Happy Black Friday!
Sayhello

I thought of you at 9 am, when I got up to do laundry and discovered I was out of detergent. So off to Target I went. I picked up a few doorbuster things, not a lot was left, but I still got some stuff for the boys. It was crowded but I was in and out and home within an hour. :)

We drove past an Old Navy about 20 minutes before it opened and there was a line down the block. For $5 pajama pants? Really? I have been home a little over an hour and ordered 3 things online at a great price, all delivered to my door, why in the world would anyone fight those crazy store crowds?

I couldn't agree more. There is nothing in Old Navy that is that expensive that the savings would be worth waiting in a line, around the corner, down the block and in the cold. Isn't there things in life worth more than the few bucks you'd save? Like time spent in your warm home, away from crowds that could potentially trample you?

For those of you who bought big ticket items and saved a lot, good for you. I still don't think even those savings would motivate me to get up and out that early though.

I relaxed this morning and then drove to my local Borders, where I am now, with the thought in mind that if it was too crazy I'd just turn around. Evidently Borders is not a big hotspot because it's nice and calm in here (and I have a 40% off coupon). The Galleria Mall across the street is a different story though; I won't be stopping there on this day!

I am always amazed that people will trample others for these types of events. It is just awful. I know it is tough for the stores to control the crowds, but A) they need to try harder, and B) people shouldn't be so savage. I am thrilled for you that you got the deals you wanted - great job! Did you get BF deals at Dunkin Donuts too? :rotfl2:

:lmao: I should have! The line was out the door at 5:30 this morning! I had just come from getting a Christmas tree at Lowe's when my mother decided it was convenient for me to pick her up donuts and bagels being that I was out already! :rotfl2:

I am a first time home buyer and move within a week. The savings on the TV was crucial for me. I went to bed at 8:30 and was there by 1:30 this morning. The time went by really quickly and I lucked out on a TV I'd never be able to afford for my new living room. It was a blessing and I definitely had angels watching over me today!

I was also able to get all of my Christmas shopping done. That is an amazing feeling. :thumbsup2

I know Black Friday is definitely not for everyone. I hadn't gone out for about three years. I do find it super exciting, but won't be going out again for any big ticket electronic items for a very long time. Other things...hmmm...maybe.... :rolleyes1

In that case Nikki, good for you and congrats! That really is a good deal on the TV.

I'm a morning person, so the idea of getting up for the shopping doesn't bother me; it's the crowds that really give me pause. But in your case, it seemed well worth it and it all worked out well. That's awesome! :thumbsup2

Pulled an all nighter! got to ToysRus at 9pm and got home at 6pm. Got all but 1 item I need for xmas presents so my holiday shopping is effectively done! Went to target, but after the crowds were gone and got everything we wanted there. Great deals at Meijer and Kohls. It was a great day with the wife, we had a blast. I'm whipped though, got 3 hrs of sleeping and heading to bed now.

It was quite an event!!!! I got there around 1:20 and the line was wrapped around the side of the store. The rush for the TV was nuts and my short self was nearly knocked down. When I felt myself going down, my foot hit the edge of a TV box and steadied me. I screamed in the process though because I knew if I'd go down, I was going to get seriously hurt. It was quite scary. A woman in a wheelchair was getting trampled, too. I couldn't get over how nuts people were!

I then went to Lowe's, Kohl's, Dunkin Donuts, and Petsmart. I got all of my Christmas shopping done and saved close to $800! Woohoo!

Highlights of BF Shopping Mania...

40" LCD HDTV 1080 Res -$298
Dirt Devil Vac - $28
Pre-Lit 6.5" Christmas Tree - $38
Food Network Various Appliances & Dishes - All 50% Off
Fancy Feast Cat Food 50 cans for $20 (minus a $1.00 coupon!)

Congratulations.

I am another who just cannot take the sales. We used to drive the 45 miles and stay in a hotel so that DW could go, while I slept and then looked after our babies. Most times Diane was back for breakfast as she did better unhindered by family and kids :goodvibes

I hit our Super Target at about 3:40...the line was pretty good, but not insanely crazy (we do have two Targets within about 5 miles of each other...one Super, one just a regular). Once the line started moving, some morons started running as the line broke. No one got trampled, but they sure did look stupid! Lots of those 40" TVs filled carts (I so wanted one, but DH said no...:confused3) I got the Cars set and Toy Story toys for 50% off for DS's, a $49 personal DVD player for my DS for plane rides and some other stuff...oral b toothbrush, $3 hand mixer and sandwich griller...headed over to ToysRUs next door (they had nothing that I really wanted), then walked back over to Target to grab some sweaters and scarves. Then drove to regular ole Target and found the treasured Racing Doc car for DS. Headed back over to Target at about 4:30 pm with my sis to see if they had any movies left and got Napolean Dynamite in BluRay and some hat and scarves for DSs. They had quite a few of those Door Busters left, even then!

The black Friday thing is just fine. And kinda fun...you won't EVER see me running into a store tho...unless someone is advertising that new Disney Dooney for 50% off...then it's game on....

I totally forgot to mention the perks I got yesterday morning: $35 in Target gift cards (thanks to doorbuster and coupon mailed to me) and $40 in Kohl's cash! Woohoo!

I am glad you got your TV and didn't get trampled in the process.

One of my Facebook "Friends" posted that she got the same TV at Target on BF and we had the opportunity to buy it. First $500 get's it. I passed on her offer:confused3.

Glad you were able to get what you wanted Nikki

This is my Target Rant:

I went to my Target yesterday for the 26" Vizio TV that they had in the Sunday Ad for my Mother and I was the First Customer in the Store when the store opened at 8AM and they did not even have one of them in Stock. I was told... Sorry No Rain Checks!!

This is why I don't like Target, as they will only carry a few of the big ticket items advertised in their sales, or As In my case, they didn't even have the TV advertised in stock and they would not substitute anything in it's place. When I complained at the Service Desk, the CSR just said the other store across town had one in stock as of 8AM. I didn't even try, as I am sure there was someone like me lined up at the door when they opened to get it.
