Target 5% savings question

We'll be headed back to Disney in a few months (like I'm not counting down or anything, haha -- in 89 days!) and for the 1st time, we'll be paying OOP for dining. I'm going to buy gift cards for our trip, to help with expenses, and I'm trying to save up as much as I can before then.

On the Target Card -- does it have to be a credit card? Or can it be the Target debit card? Do they both get a 5% discount on purchases? I'd rather not do the credit card but would love the 5% savings.

Thanks!

Either. But people have had an issue with buying large amounts with the debit card (even if they have that much in their account.)

We use the credit because our limit is clearly stated.

Hope to help!

Yes, you can use your target red debit card to save 5%. I actually just signed up for pharmacy rewards because after 5 refills you get a 5% off coupon. That can save you a total of 10% on Disney gift cards. I didn't think I'd get the coupon until I filled 5 scripts, which isn't going to happen until after my trip. But, when I signed up today, she told me they send a 5% coupon with your first prescription fill. YAY!

That's awesome! What a nice surprise, huh? :thumbsup2

Yep, you can pick either. And FWIW re the debit limit -- I was a tad worried because the most I spend is usually around $100 and primarily grocery, pharmacy and clothes. I had zero issue buying over $1000 in GCs. Mind you I was sure to have some other things in there as well -- shorts for DD and some groceries I needed. I have heard more issues with people buying ONLY GCs that if you throw in some regular stuff. Weird but seems to work!

I just purchased $1000 worth of GCs without any other items the other day using my debit card and didnt have any problems. I've had my card for a couple years and I do use it often. The cashier told me that sometimes they do limit what you can purchase if its a newer card.

It's not quite 10% off.

It's 5% off and then 5% off of that total.

So a $100 giftcard is $95 with the pharmacy coupon. Then another 5% off of that for the redcard. $90.25.
