Target 5% off Disney Giftcards no longer offered?

All is well with the 5% discount in store! I just bought disney gift cards in store this afternoon using only my target red card & received the discount no problems.

The chat person told me they no longer offer the discount. I am going to buy target gift cards for 5 percent off at Raise, then buy the gift cards from Target. I didn't even think about using the discounted Target cards to buy the discounted Disney card. Now I am too late. Bummer.

I can also confirm that the store discount still works. I bought a $50 card yesterday afternoon, and the guy said, "Come back and see us again." About 30 minutes later, after I had finished shopping and grabbing 9 more cards, I went back to him. He laughed and rang me up and said, "Come back again soon", and I replied, "we will, but not again today." Lol

I bought some in store a few weeks ago and it worked fine.

I just saw this post. I went to target Friday and yesterday and bought gift cards. Red card 5% came right off

Is it still working in store? I had just purchased some target gift cards from a discount site this morning to buy Disney gift cards so I was bummed to learn this this today. I got 5.5% off the Target cards through raise. It is still a better deal than in store. Plus I get 1% cash back on my visa and I am waiting to see if eBates 2% will apply. I guess it depends on how they have categorized the cards now.

You never could purchase the Disney gift cards in store using target gift cards and get the additional 5% off, that was only on their website and appears to have been a long-lasting glitch unless people start reporting it's working again. In stores the 5% off only applies if the disney gc is purchased using a Target Redcard (credit or debit) and that's how their system is supposed to work.

Yep, I knew that. I just wondered if it was still working in the store so I could let a friend know. I still came out ahead in how I did it, just not as good as I did a couple weeks ago.

I just did it in store Sunday and didn't have any issues, 5% off with my redcard and I'm a happy camper, so you're friend should be good!

thanks! Since I got them hooked I didn't want to give them bad news. I am hoping I will get the 2% from ebates from my online order then the 5.5% from raise and 1% cash back on my credit card...It's still pretty good.

Okay, I'm completely new to this concept. I just learned about people using Disney gift cards to buy tickets and things in the parks the other day (I'm clearly WAY behind the times).

So, hypothetically speaking: If you buy a $100 gift card for Target on a place like Raise.com for $97 (or whatever the discount available is), you can then turn around and buy a couple of $50 Disney gift cards with your Target gift cards? Is it worth it though to only save $3?

Also, sorry for just jumping in, but I was searching the Disboards for this kind of information all day yesterday. Glad you guys were already discussing it! :)

:surfweb: Couple of other things:

1. Are you guys using these Disney cards to pay for Disney hotels, souvenirs, park tickets, what?

And

2. If you're using it to buy park tickets through Disneyland.com, does it really save you that much more than just purchasing your tickets through a Disney-trusted ticket seller?

Sams Club offers 5% off gift cards too but I am having issues. We always used Target but since they stopped the discount we tried Cardpool cards for walmart.

Has anyone purchased a Disney GC from Sams Club with a Sams or Walmart Gift Card? I tried and the transaction went through but when I checked my order status today it said all orders had been cancelled. I called Sams customer service and was told that they had no idea why they cancelled and they would have to request an investigation that would take a few days.

The best I am figuring out is this:
Buy Target gift cards through Raise 5.5-6% is what is find (best with a rewards visa, or other card). Then if you don't have an ebates account, get one. Log into ebates (you get this cash back quarterly). Link to Targets website through ebates. Buy the gift cards with the cards you bought on Raise.com. Today I bought $200 worth and after all my discounts I saved 8.5% (but I only got the 5.5% at Raise today). Of course the cash back on my credit card and ebates I have to wait for but it is still a savings.

If someone else has a better way to do it, PLEASE let me know!!

If you have a Target RedCard, you can save 5% in the store by purchasing the Disney cards and paying with your redcard. Until recently, you could buy discounted Target gift cards on sites like Raise, and buy Disney cards on the Target website using the Raise cards as payment with your RedCard as the backup payment. This would give you the benefit of the Raise savings, PLUS the Redcard savings. At this time, you cannot use your redcard to buy Disney cards at a discount on the Target website. So if you are going to use a site like raise.com, make sure you are purchasing cards at at least a 5% discount. Otherwise using your redcard in store would be a better savings, UNLESS you have other reward programs you are using in conjunction with raise.com.

It saves on top of Disney Discount prices. So if I book my resort with an Annual Passholders discount of 25% off and the total is $500 I pay $500 with my GC that I only paid say $450 for. Typically our vacations are 6-10k so the savings is huge by using the gift cards. The added bonus of the $20 per $1000 in the DVA is great too. I use all kinds of methods to save money on giftcards and am currently at 32% off. Since January I have bought $925 in GC for $625.78 OOP.

Jump In!! Only you can determine if it's worth it to you the amount you will save. Since you're new to Disney gift cards a quick primer: they can pay for hotels, food, merchandise, tickets. Almost everywhere in the parks accepts them (a couple little independent vendors don't). FYI, there are 2 types of Disney gift cards, one for Disney store only and the other one is broader for Disney parks- I didn't know that till I started poking around ebay thinking I could try to pick up some gift cards for a discount there and came across that warning. The ones you buy from target state on the back they are good in all the parks so you're safe there. You have the concept down, you can use discounted target gift cards to purchase Disney gift cards just fine. If you have a target redcard credit card or debit card you can purchase Disney gift cards using that and get 5% off instantly when charged so that's what we're referencing when you keep seeing "5%" questions pop up. The cards can be annoying to handle in the parks fyi, as they only come in $50 denominations from target and it can be unnerving carrying that much in gift cards to Disneyland to pay for your onsite hotel (only Disney owned hotels accept Disney gift cards) so those are a couple things to take into consideration depending on your specific circumstances and personal preferences.

(best with a rewards visa, or other card).

What if we don't use credit cards? We went the Dave Ramsey route years ago and don't use credit at all. I'd be buying it all with my debit card.

And also- If Ebates gives you their cash back quarterly, it doesn't sound like I'll be getting any cash back from them in time for my trip in mid-june. Is this correct?
