Just wondering what people prefer to purchase? Trying to load up for our upcoming trip and maintenance fees are around the corner.

Maybe people do physical gift cards for actual trips and the electronic gift cards for maintenance fees?

And the 5% is still good for target sir ysott cards, I think.

If anyone knows of a better discount or hack, please feel free to share!

If you want a bigger discount, check the Disney Gift Card Deals thread on the Budget Board. Start about 15-20 pages from the end.

eGCs are fine for paying your dues. You can also enter them in the disneygiftcard.com website and transfer the balance to a physical GC if you have an old one in your possession.

Electronic gift cards are much easier. Just cut and paste the codes in order to combine gift cards online. Max is 1K on each card. I buy a couple of physical cards from the Disney Store to get different designs and re-load the balance over and over again for use on trips. We use gift cards for everything. Dues, dining plan, and purchases on site. 5% off really adds up over time.

Wondering if there is a way to get more than 5% ;) off....

Last fall, I scored 12% off Disney Gift Cards from a BJ's sale on gift cards. The catch was that to get 12% off, you had to buy gift cards with a face value of $25. If you wanted the $500 face value cards, the discount was only about 9% (and those cards sold out immediately). So, I had to spend an hour on the Disney gift card site to move the balances from a bazillion cards onto a few cards. In the end, I had five cards with balances between $100 and $500 and a whole pile of "empty" cards.

One way is to purchase a Sams Club membership and buy Disney Gift Cards there that are like 4% off. But you need to pay for those with Walmart gift cards that you get at 2-4% off. It is a bit more trouble so I don't do it unless I will end up clearing close to 8% or more off.

Follow the Disney Gift Card Deals thread on the Budget Board. There are often ways to stack credit card offers with rebate programs to get back 10% or better.

For instance, my Chase Freedom Visa is currently offering 10% back (up to $7) at Staples. The card also pays me 1.5 UR points per $ spent. And because the card is linked to my Rakuten account, I got another 2% back thru them.

Was that during Black Friday? It may be worth joining BJ's for 12% off! My maintenance fees are around $2500 a year-- and 12% of that is over $250!!

I have the Chase Freedom Visa! Does it give you credit right on your bill?? But it's only up to $7, which is ?? (I'm a math idiot)

The offer has to be available to you (check your account online) and you have to add it to your card. The maximum amount back on my offer is $7, which means if you purchase a $100 GC, you only get the maximum of $7 back (7%). But if you were to buy a $50 GC, you get $5 back (10%).

Wow. I feel really stupid now.

Just ckecked and the staples offer is doing 20% cash back up to $13. That's $65. I can do math, I swear, I just have a whining 6yr old in the background takling all my brain power from me....

I have been doing the electronic GC to pay my MF because i can complete the transaction - receive GC and pay MF within an hour or so. For our trip i would do physcial GC but if you have an old GC you could just get electron GC then go on the disney GC website and transfer the balance from the electronic GC to a physical one which you will carry to the parks/dining.

The week before black Friday in 2018. My actual purchase date was 11-19-18. The deal was online-only.

If you watch your local flyers and bulk mail, it's pretty easy to get a free 3 month BJ's membership. They also have a very low cost online membership, which might be ideal for someone looking to only score Disney gift cards once a year during the sale.

Yikes. I just realized my maintenance fees are $2800+/year.... even at 5%, that’s $140! Target, here we come....

I like EGCs because you can get larger amounts, makes it easier to combine. Just paid off our cruise and bought DL tickets we'll be upgrading to APs with the $500 electronic ones. At the store you can only get $100 and I've had several stores here in California tell me you can only buy $300 worth on any given day (though that may be just my area as others have reported differently). Plus then I can use the self check out when I do my normal Target run, my local stores always seem to be understaffed when I have time to go on my work lunch.
