I heard they will start taping between 9 and 10 a.m. Planned on going but DD12's 9 a.m. softball game didn't get canceled due to yesterday's rain. Only got pushed back to 11. :sad2: DARN RAIN! :umbrella:

I really wish I could be there, but I was blocked out so I'll have to wait to see it on tv. Been looking at the pictures on mousewait and it looks really cute! I love the Toy Soldiers, reminds me of Babes in Toyland.

What celebrities or music artists were there?

It airs on Christmas Day live from WDW, but they cut away to DL. The cut-aways are taped today at DL. Like magic. :wizard:

It's NOT live from WDW either that is taped in early Dec. It's ALL taped and last year Nick Cannon was the host from CA and Seacrest from WDW. Maria Minunos (sp??) also hosted from WDW. Dying to find out who is filming in the Land today... suprised nobody has posted pics or said anything yet!

I'm sorry, I stand corrected. Brain lapse. It USED to be live until about 15 (?) years ago. Now the segments at both DL and WDW are indeed taped.

I know through a friend who was there that Nick Cannon was there. I'm not sure if he was hosting or a different "role." So far, that's all I know, people-wise.

LOL bug your friend... dying to know who taped... If Cannon was at Land Seacrest will be at WDW... I suspect that today may have been parade segments and tomorrow castle stage but pick their brain and see what you can get for us :) ty!

Saw over on Mousewait that Nick Cannon was Santa Claus in the parade and the performance was OneRepublic. They also performed at night for a segment for Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve. The rumor is the Christina Aguilera will be performing tomorrow (possibly at the Grand since it will be rainy)

I was there today...well...yesterday now, Saturday. One Republic sang two songs for the New Years Special on ABC. It was kind of fun and convenient, yet still somewhat of a hassle seeing Soundsational and the Christmas Parade intertwined. Was around the Pinochio float and it was kind of fun seeing the chracters interact with each other between takes.

So, most of it has been posted already, but yes Nick Cannon was there. I was going to post about OneRepublic, but SaraFinaPink already has. And yes, word is that Christina Aguilera is performing today. I was told in front of the Castle.

Apparently they recorded the segments for the Christmas Parade during daylight and the segments at the castle for NYE after dark.

I am extremely intrigued by KuyaJeff's post as there is NO indication that there was a parade yesterday. I went to the Park briefly in the evening. There were still risers on Main Street from the taping of the Christmas Parade and there was "stuff" in the Hub area from the Castle segments. I was told by a CM that it was not being cleared away because it was going to be used for the Castle segments "tomorrow with Christina" (meaning Sunday, today). The entertainment schedule that was available upon entering the Park has NO parade listed for Saturday at all.

So they did end up running Soundsational?
Well, KuyaJeff seems to have seen it, but it is not on the printed handout and Main Street still had risers from earlier in the day, so it must have been interesting. KuyaJeff, do you have any pictures? I would love to see how they got the parade down Main Street with the risers I saw still sitting there later in the evening. :confused3

Thanks!

We are here now, staying at GCH. Concert taping is today INSIDE the hotel, I guess to due horrible weather. Christina Aguilera is the guest.

Well I had originally heard on Facebook via 1iota, a company known for arranging audiences television show tapings, that there were about 300 "tickets" available for the taping. Those that were lucky enough to People were encouraged to dress up in Christmas clothing to make it seem like it was December 25th in early November. Those who signed up via 1iota were told that they'd get a one-park complimentary ticket to get in for the taping. All that we had to do was check-in at 11:00 am.

So I did check in, a little early, and was given a ticket to enter Disneyland. Got there a little early and people were already lined up along Main Street. It looked like many more than 300 people were there, so I assumed all guests were allowed to take part in it. For what seemed like 45 minutes leading up to the official 11:00, maybe even a little 10 minutes after...they were taping reaction shots of the crowd.

I was right by Coke corner for the entire thing, people were kind of left guessing as to what was going to happen. The Christmas floats were brought in first, with Children holding Duffy, Mickey and Minnie toys leading the start. From our vantage point, it seemed that they were doing a musical number that could only be seen from Town Square (where the cameras were). Couldn't hear any audio whatsoever, but the warm-up guy gave us cuses as when to applaud and do a countdown. They had a really catchy/corny hip-hopesque song that had us spelling T-O-Y-S! :p

It took a few takes, but they got it done. Like I said in a previous post, it was interesting seeing the character on the floats interact with the crowds and each other between takes. For a moment, we thought Pinochio was getting restless but they all stayed in character.

After the musical number was when it got a little confusing. The floats started heading south on Main Street. But as it was going down, the music pumped through the entire Main Street sound system only played whatever parade unit was down by the Emporium instead of the way that the music usually "follows each unit individually" along the route. From our vantage point it made the music seem delayed, playing music for a float we had already seen pass by.

A neat surprise was how they let about half of the Christmas Fantasy Parade floats come by, then let the Soundsational parade floats come by, and then some more Christmas floats. Once that first musical number completed, they ran the rest of the two parades without any stops. It was definitely a treat to see both parades all at once...semi-jumbled up. With running both parades practically all at once over about an hour and a half, the entertainment department must have been running an army of dancers and characters. Kudos to them.

I do have pictures, but nothing really explaining the whole process, if anything I was there taking advantage of the oppurtunity to take pictures of the characters. Definitely a fun oppurtunity.

The One Republic taping was said to start at 6:30. Didn't really come at that time thinking that it would be Christmas songs and not their more commonly known songs. I headed over to the Plaza Inn to grab some Chicken for dinner. I did get a nice seat and found out that it was in fact for the New Years Eve special. They played two of their songs, and like the rest of the day there were many takes. I had ridden the DLRR before dinner and saw some fireworks being shot off around the castle area. Assuming that was for the taping as well.

Saw on another board that China Ann McMclain from Disney's Ant Farm was there as well and taped a song from a float. Also had a musical number with Phinneas and Ferb and some kids dressed as Fireside Girls in "uniforms"... and just found this about today We were able to see two special performances. The first was in front of the castle where Nathan Pacheco and Katherine Jenkins performed O Holy Night. After that, it was off to the Grand Californian Hotel to see Christina Aguilera's live performance of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Also saw that Marlee Matlin helped introduce some of the acts....

Years ago I used to think that both parades were broadcast live from both locations :upsidedow
